Chiefs vs Rebels

  • Nuts, but glad it is for this game as we have:

Rebels Home - We should win
    Tahs Away - Tough
    Crusaders home - Tough
Reds away - We should win
    Highlanders Away - Tough

  • It doesn't say what caused it. Anyone recall an incident?

I remember a big Highlander forward taking a flying somersault leap at his head....

Put his head gear on too fast?
He must be the most fragile player in super rugby. Shame as he's in top form.

Well Treason did suggest he shoulda copped a ban for his actions...

  • Chiefs don't have much luck with very good centres do they?

I wonder if Rennie is doubting the wisdom of playing that Crusaders' game in Fiji?

With Nadolo, Macilai and Volavola in the Crusaders' squad I reckon we'll have a decent portion of the crowd on our side.

  • It wasn't Rennies choice was it??

  • It wasn't Rennies choice was it??

Nope.  The Chiefs must have received a deal they couldn't refuse (made easier to accept because of the Wales game).  Both teams only get a % of the ticket sales, but the Chiefs receive more as it's a "home" game.

  • A warm dry evening in a tropical winter instead of a wet, foggy or dewy Hamilton. Sounds like a good fit for the Chiefs to throw it around against an AB's forward pack fresh off three test matches.

  • I can't imagine the ticket sales would out stripp Waikato Stadium??

  • Chiefs by a THOWWWWWWSAND!

I'm ever-hopeful that Toddy, having done an excellent job of managing his AB forwards' workloads, will have that favour returned by Hansen - i.e that Steve won't thrash the shit out of Franks, Whitelock and Read in particular.

  • I can't imagine the new captain of the All Blacks will miss much of his first three tests

You thinking of Lisa Lewis again?

  • I can't imagine the new captain of the All Blacks will miss much of his first three tests

He's already done the job 9 times - he can be rested for the game we lose so that he's not "the first since 1953".  🙂

  • You thinking of Lisa Lewis again?

    Bless her

  • Crusaders' front row better watch out. Noted scrum expert Ross Karl of newshub sport came down to Hamilton and officially announced our scrum had gotten better.

  • Fisi'ihoi is a LHP, isn't he ? Can he play THP as well or will Hames replace Yamashita during the second spell ?

  • That'll be too good for the Rebels if your tighthead can stay up.

  • Nathan Harris back and into the starting lineup. Good news

Rennie said Fisi'ihoi has been working hard with Hoeft the past few weeks to upskill as a TH.

    How convenient.

  • How convenient.

How so? If you're talking about the Canes game a few weeks back, they have to declare what position their props cover before the game.

Because after said game Rennie said he was incapable of playing tighthead.

  • which is why he has been training to be able to cover TH I expect?

  • Which, as Smudge says, is very convenient

  • just like josh honeck with the highlanders earlier in the season. went to golden oldie scrums because he was not a loosehead but he has started last two games there

  • convenient that their versatility was exposed 4 weeks ago and they have worked hard with a player to ensure it doesn't happen again?

  • Well I certainly wouldn't question Rennies integrity, I know it makes him "bloody angry"

Ah yes, that tighthead novice Siegfried Fisiihoi

Did Rennie ever say he hadn't played tighthead? He just said he wasn't good enough as a tighthead didn't he? I'm assuming the Highlanders were following the same storyline when they pulled the same trick on their home ground but weren't forced to drop a player out of the team. 😉

Edit: Ploughboy beat me to it.

  • well we get told that ITM Cup is so far from the quality of Super rugby that playing TH in that comp probably means little?

At any rate, they obviously felt he wasn't up to it, which is why they have been working to make him better

    What is your point?

Just checking - are you supporting the Chiefs this week? I can never remember which Super Rugby team you pin your colours to.  :fishing:

  • What is your point?

Smudge is throwing stones in glass houses.

    Fisi'ihoi is a shit tightead.

    Magpies beat BoP 33-26.

    Take your pick.

I think I'm going Crusaders this week for the shits and giggles.

So you're saying that because they knew Fisi'ihoi is a shit TH that they'd be better off going to golden oldies?

or they knew he wasn't able to safely hold up a scrum at TH in Super rugby they thought it was safer to go to Golden Oldies.
