Ripped for Raro 2016



  • I'm going to Rarotonga in mid August. My first trip overseas in 12 years. I'm anticipating wearing nothing but shorts and t shirts while over there apart from a suit on the day of the wedding I'll be attending so want to be looking my best. So in that vein I'm gonna be upping the cardio, dropping the piss, ( Dry July, more on that later ) and maintaining the "beach" muscles as best I can.
     
    I've found since I have a home office I'm not out using the car as much, I had a park in town, being free and being of Scottish descent this suited me down to the ground. It was up a big hill and this was great cardio. I had to drive into town a couple of weeks ago and I found the walk up to the park was much harder work than it used to be. So right there and then after I drop the boys each morning I'm off on a half hour walk up the hills nearby the house. No fucken excuses five times a week, already this is reaping benefits and by end of July I want it to be "easy" again.
     
    Other than that I'll be doing weights/bodyweight/plyometric shit I've always done and Pilates ( more often ) The other half wants to do a couple of sessions for people over there, naturally I'll have to join in. Fuck.
     
    Another recent issue has been all the wanky craft beer I've been brewing. I'm positive that shit is heaps more fattening than more mainstream beers. A couple we do are 7-8% and whilst delicious they must just go straight to the guts. So after a few in front of the ABs on Saturday night that could be just about it for me and beer til August ( where I'll be partaking in more than a few brews I bet )
     
    So I'm not gonna do a JK, Paeks or NTA and detail each and every workout, I'm possibly not even going to make a goal weight, ( Currently 104-105kg so maybe 99-100 ? ) I just wanna keep myself honest and look and feel better when I'm over there.



  • Weekend consisted of a weights sessions plus a hoon at the driving range. Forearms are actually a tiny but sore after than, first time I've picked up a golf club in about 10 years though, still managed to crack one about 250 odd metres so happy with that ( and a couple that staggered about 10 metres ).
     
    The beer and wine came out during the ABs match, will have a couple more then she's all over this Friday until August.

    Definitely, the beer going should just about sort stuff right then and there but all the other stuff can only but help too.



  • Yep will make a massive difference and cut back on the carbs - any sugary crap and bread should be first to go.  Add extra green vege to keep you full if needed. Fruit OK in moderation

    Already pretty decent in that regard dude, I eat poached eggs on toast a lot, just two slices of brown bread,  I never eat cakes, closest is pinching a few skittles from the boys ( LOVE those sour ones ! ).

    Just good vege and a few taters here and there. Now I think about it I have a bad habit of snacking on bread every now and again. Despite what NTA says I'm not a fat cunt but probably a few cheeky kg over where I ideally want to be.

    Your assumption is correctemondo. I like sparkling water with a splash of lemon or lime. Not particularly inclined to drink this during winter though. Also can't function without at least one black coffee a day.

    I agree with JK, cut out bread completely, sugar, rice, pasta,and beer....perhaps a little nibble. That's a massive start. Then no chicken skin, and no animal fats whenever you eat protein.
     
    On top of that, aim for vege juice for dinner. instead of a real meal.
     
    and, aim to be hungry a lot....being hungry is good...
     
    Plus do some HIT type of repeats for cardio to use up energy, especially late afternoon or evening...5-10 hill sprints.
     
    Then there's pull ups and dips because they build a good shape and real strength.

  • Morning walk was better today than yesterday cos of the fact it wasn't pissing with rain. Even this early on it's getting easier to get up the hill. Shortcut to get home across the field sucked on account of how fucken muddy it was and having to walk like an old man to avoid not slipping over. Stopped and did a max set of chins on the soccer goalposts, 17, so thrilled with that. Did a set to failure every minute after that, probably got through about 35-40 in total.



  • Have an APA and an IPA ( 2 x 750 mls ) in the fridge ready for tonight. Rest ( about 30 bottles ) are stored in a hard to reach area of the garage, mind you the temperature out there at the moment I don't even need a fridge. Anyway I intend to enjoy the two tonight then not touch them again til August.
     
    I've never done anything like this with the old drinking so wish me luck fellas, some of you are mates on FB, I'm not mentioning this on there until it's over cos people will tear the living shit out of me and tell me I can't do it.

    download the HIIT app...is a great app, a good workout gets the heart pumping. Is a due on FB I follow as he does some great workouts for the app, only problem is he also likes putting up pictures of himself in flexed poses...
     
    My core one is box jumps, press ups, either a shoulder press or ez bar curls and finish with mountain climbers; 20 sec workout, 10 sec rest, 6 rounds, takes about 12 mins.
