2016 TSF NPC Tipping http://www.eglobal.co.nz/tsfnpc16/tsf.htm
@dogmeat you should tip week 9 at the same time .....
20 minutes into the weekend and the scorelines read like the half-times in the football. Easy to list who picked a winner correctly.
Manawatu: Unite, Justin77, FarNthHayden
Tasman: Bay Imports, African Monkey, Phooey, Corkscrew
Absentee tippers are Hooroo, Midge and Chaz - still time to submit your tips as most people are still on zero.
Wairarapa Bush 0 - 1 BOP
Hawke's Bay 0 - 2 South Island
Harbour-Auckland 0 - 0 Wellington
Counties-Waikato 2 - 2 Northland
Gunner 0 v 0 Langakali
Hurrycanes 0 v 0 Joan and Mary
I won't post the top 10 given that none of them have scored a point yet.
Half-time in the semi-finals and BOP have sneaked into a narrow lead as the Bush showed some love for Northland. HB and South are locked in a tie. 20-20 apiece in both the Cup semi-finals so titanic second halves in prospect. Joan and Mary have edged ahead of Broughie overall as Broughie backed Northland but the gap is still only a single result across the top 3.
For the week so far, African Monkey and Justin77 lead with 25.
Wairarapa Bush 16 - 17 BOP
Hawke's Bay 18 - 18 South Island
Harbour-Auckland 15 - 16 Wellington
Counties-Waikato 15 - 17 Northland
Gunner 20 v 20 Langakali
Hurrycanes 20 v 20 Joan and Mary
Joan and Mary 372
Plastered Peni 366
Triple T 361
@KiwiPie I guess Northland shot their wad last week and decided they needed to get a losing streak running again. Pack of losers.
taniwharugby last edited by
well if you'd had any sense you coulda checked that only 2 of the Northland tippers picked us to win (and one has done that every week anyway) to realise that we were no show...think it has been about 13 or 14 years since we have won down there as well
@taniwharugby Hey I thought they had maybe turned a corner and could feed off their success last week. I gave them too much credit and I forgot they wear that god awful powder blue jersey.
taniwharugby last edited by
@broughie they did turn a corner, but they kept turning and went back round!
60 minutes in and the Bush are back in the lead through the whole team backing Counties while BOP were 50/50. HB and South are still locked together but South have more of a spread with Phooey on 39 and ACT back on 12. The minor placing games are also tied so far.
Waynes World looks to have a decisive lead in the TSL Cup while Higgins and Plastered Peni are tied. Overall Plastered Peni has gone into the lead but only 5 points cover the top 4.
Wairarapa Bush 30 - 27 BOP
Hawke's Bay 27 - 27 South Island
Harbour-Auckland 25 - 25 Wellington
Counties-Waikato 25 - 25 Northland
Waynes World 32 v 22 Richie
Higgins 35 v 35 Plastered Peni
Plastered Peni 381
Joan and Mary 379
Triple T 376
Everything is up to date online now
Only 9 points cover the top 5 going into the final weekend - all to play for so make sure you tip on time. Broughie and Triple T are level on top.
3 of the 4 games ended up level which is unusual.
Wairapara Bush beat BOP by virtue of their top 5 scoring 179 to 178 which is about as close as you can get - except that South Island and Hawke's Bay finished dead level on 175 apiece and South Island go through because their non-scorer ACT scored 27 to Stargazer's 24.
Harbour-Auckland beat woeful Wellington and Northland scraped past four man Counties-Waikato 172-169.
Langikali is into the final of the TSF Cup - he will play the winner of Hurrycanes v Joan and Mary - that match is decided by whichever gets ahead first in the final week.
African Monkey 47
Bay Imports 42
Number 10 39
Triple T 37
Plastered Peni 37
Waynes World 34
Bay Boy Tim 32
Joan and Mary 29
Cactus Jack 29
ACT Crusader 27
Victor A 27
Chaz's Raiders 19
Adam Bowen 14

Never thought a mediocre 27 would be so important
It's the final week - make sure you get your tips in on time today and you can forget about tipping until February.
Right we finally have some points in Week 9 - if you didn't know, a draw means zero for everyone. Most went for the Naki although a fair few went 9-16. A one point lead to Wairarapa Bush over the South Island based on 3 maximums against 2 but not much between them.
Joan and Mary is in the TSL Cup final having scored 10-7 against Hurrycanes to win the semi-final replay - and now leads in the final.
Overall, this is heading for the tightest finish ever - a 3 way tie at the top, 4th 2 points behind and 5th 4 further back. 3 of them are going for a narrow away win tomorrow night, 2 are going for a narrow home win so something will give.
Wairarapa Bush 9 - 8 South Island
Hawke's Bay 7 - 9 BOP
Harbour-Auckland 4 - 8 Northland
Wellington 6 - 9 Counties-Waikato
Langakali 7 v 10 Joan and Mary
Triple T 393
Plastered Peni 393
Joan and Mary 391

@JK Oh yeah, JK, Allstar, Dingo hadn't tipped as of last night

JK had time to post Whoops but still hasn't tipped - unlike Allstar who did.
Joan and Mary making a push for league and cup double but Plastered Peni now leads by 2. Max 20/20 are mikedogz, Unite, Bay Boy Tim, J & M, FarNthHayden, PP, Victor, Virgil and DK.
Wairarapa Bush 14 - 12 South Island
Hawke's Bay 12 - 16 BOP
Harbour-Auckland 10 - 11 Northland
Wellington 10 - 17 Counties-Waikato
Langakali 9 v 20 Joan and Mary
Plastered Peni 403
Joan and Mary 401
Triple T 395
African Monkey 374
@KiwiPie Looks like everyone is limping to the finish.
@broughie Yes they are limping but you seem to be in reverse and accelerating!
Bush still lead but just by a point - pretty similar picks for the last 2 games so it could come down to margins. Counties-Waikato have finally found some form - 8 weeks too late. Mikedogz has 39 to lead all scorers, African Monkey has 36. NZZP has an outstanding 2 points from 6 games and could be heading to an all-time low score if Southland roll Tasman. Plenty of other low scores around as Saturday turned into a tough day for tipping.
Joan and Mary wins the TSF Cup - a lead of 21 means she can't be caught - congratulations! And also leads in the overall standings so could do the double. A 6 point lead and picking 9-16 for both Tasman and Harbour. Plastered Peni and Victor level in 2nd and going 9-16 Tasman, 1-8 Harbour and 17+ Tasman and 9-16 Harbour. In fact I reckon Joan and Mary can't lose from here with a quick bit of maths.
Wairarapa Bush 22 - 21 South Island
Hawke's Bay 17 - 23 BOP
Harbour-Auckland 14 - 18 Northland
Wellington 19 - 31 Counties-Waikato
Langakali 11 v 32 Joan and Mary
Joan and Mary 413
Plastered Peni 407
Triple T 399
African Monkey 393
It's all over and here is the roll of honour.
1st Wairapa Bush. Once again the most consistent team out there, unbeaten for 2 seasons and with 3 players in the top 5.
2nd South Island. Surprise package of the season but only Joan and Mary scored well in the final round. Had the other 2 in the top 5.
3rd BOP. Limped over the line against Hawke's, a bit like in the real game. No real stars this season.
4th Hawke's Bay. 3 in the top 14 but all of them had a poor final round.
5th Northland. Gunner was near the top but apart from Justin77, the rest were a shambles.
6th Harbour-Auckland. Too many strugglers to compete.
7th Counties-Waikato. Despite 2 in the top 11, playing with only 5 all season made it tough.
8th Wellington. Used to be a force in the tipping world - they aren't any more.
1st Joan and Mary. Stormed through to win by just a single point. Wasn't near the top until Week 4 and then consistent good scores got the victory. Has played every season and never been in the top 3 before - well done.
2nd Victor. Has now finished 2nd in NPC in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Couldn't have been closer this time, just a point behind,
3rd Plastered Peni. Cup winner in the last NPC, another strong season.
Winner: Joan and Mary. Only the second winner of the double, after Propsicle 3 years ago in NPC.
Most matches correct: Joan and Mary. 3 better than anyone else, 78% of games tipped correctly.
Most margins correct: Victor by one from Gunner and Triple T. 40% of games picked with margin.
Most 50+ weeks: Bay Boy Tim, Hydro11, Victor and Gunner with 4/9.
Most 40+ weeks: Victor with 8/9.
Finally thanks to everyone for playing, with the Facebook group working well and Higgins doing a fine job of reminding, this has been the best season yet for people staying in the comp. See you all in February.

Congrats Joan and Mary and thanks as always KP for a great comp.
One suggestion for next year - finish it 6 weeks earlier. For some reason 4th September strikes me as a great closing date
