Guns and Roses concerts in NZ

  • Pre-sale tickets are available now if you are wanting to go.

I haven't been to a concert at Western Springs since Bon Jovi and it is fair to say I am a little excited!! Got Daimond tickets without looking into it and realise we are right up front and if it was 15 years ago, I would be stoked but would now rather watch from afar.

    Should be a ripper though

  • How did you qualify for the presale?

  • Westpac customers have access to it.

  • Got an email from the rock even though I don't listen to them and they gave a presale code which was 'therock'

  • Here's the lineup, three of the original members

  • I can't wait to see what the supporting acts are.

Dizzy Reed has been there a while, pretty sure he was involved with the Use your Illusion albums.

Was he the guy Axl bought in to play on the Sympathy for the devil cover?

  • Axl, Slash and Duff are there. That's all that matters, I've always thought the designated "rhythm guitarist" in any band is basically a bit of a bitch so anyone can essentially fill that role, Virg, you're dead right I'm pretty certain the only album Dizzy missed was Appetite for Destruction ? ( pretty big miss though given it's the biggest selling debut album of all time and in my esteemed opinion fucken rocks to this day ). I've mentioned it before but G n R don't sound "dated" like so many of their lesser contemporaries.....Motley Crue, Bonjovi etc who definitely sound 80's  all the way.

Looking forward to seeing Slash live, he's a tough one to place in the echelon of all time guitarists for me. He is basically the last of his kind ( after all what band since has had a genuine guitar hero ? ) and hoping Axl's pipes hold up well.

  • Wow, didn't know Slash and Duff were back - hopefully the tour makes it to NZ before they get so pissed off with Axl that they say fuck it.

I'd like to go to a GnR concert but TBH I'd only want to hear the Appetite and GnR Lies stuff.

  • True-Love did a pretty cool thing last night.

We have wireless speakers floating about and she went to bed and downloaded a few GnR albums and then started playing through the house. I flicked off the TV and just enjoyed it. Man they have some great songs that you don't hear often. Rocket Queen for example

That's my favourite so it's the one I actually do hear most often. 🙂

  • I swear I will lose my shit when they start to play Paradise City. Probably one of my favourite Rock vids

  • My favourite underrated G n R tracks would be "Mr Brownstone" and "Estranged".......I think the latter would be considered more of a classic if it weren't so similar to "November Rain" ( it's a way better song I reckon ).

I'll never forget the first time I saw Axl on Piano in the Use your Illusion era. I was shocked at how talented he was.

Most of you blokes are my age or thereabouts so I'm assuming you all bought the double album on tape back in the early 90s ? I was broke at the time so for awhile had to make do with a version that I'd taped off someone who taped it off someone who taped it off someone else. Getting it on CD in the mid 90's after I'd left school was a shock to the system at how amazing it sounded haha.

  • I am debating going to to Sydney for it, a mate has me a ticket, but it's in the cheap section at Olympic park, so will only be about 200 metres away!  I'd rather go the Hooroo route and stump up the cash for the front.  You only live once.

MN5 - spot on about the 2 best GnR tracks with those 2.  Estranged is a beautiful song, and Brownstone just sums up the new breed of rock that they introduced.

Seen Slash live twice, and it's a great show.  Basically a 90 minute solo across the top of your favourite tunes.  Hard to beat that.  I'll regret not going to this if I don't so think it's it' time for a chat with the wife ...

I'm getting tickets with a group of mates and mates of mates....luckily I've persuaded one to put it all on his credit card so we're having a liquid afternoon lunch to discuss specifics. As you allude to this could well be the very last opportunity we get to see them live, the relationship between them all seems strained at best.

Any of you guys see Slash performing on his own at the NRL grand final last year ? awkward doesn't even begin to describe it, as great as he is he still needs a band behind him !
