Given the way that this is being reffed a Bok red not out of the question.
-
I think this AB team has shown they can beat anyone on a given day but reasonable to say you would not have confidence that they can win three tough tests in a row.
-
On the bright side, happy with starting props, Papalii and Savea together, and Jordie Barrett.

Really disappointed that we gave it away. BB, take a long hard look at yourself. That comeback started with you.
Haha come on, your boy Mo'unga missed touch twice from penalties, the second one ended up with England camped on our line when we should have been on theirs. You can't single one player out for that, we looked knackered at the end of a long season and England finished very strong.
Our kick options are terrible. Barely kicked for touch when that's what was required
Agreed we have no one who can kick for territory.
That's not true. Jordie has a big kick. He should be used more.
At 12 he is more of a ball carrier I get that, but BB and Mounga have failed to lead the team around the park all year this was the worse example of that.

@Stargazer The poor pass to Ioane in the 1st half. Another in the 2nd half that led to a England penalty. He did some good things but struggled when he didn't have any space.
A high pass that any centre worth is salt should have taken. Ioane’s game is littered with errors. You combine him and Caleb Clarke and our mistake rate is too high.
Error rate between,Ioane , Mounga, Taylor and Clarke is way to high to consistently win games.

We have Jordie Barrett! Not to mention Mounga and Beauden should both be able to do it.
Maybe I will rephrase, we have no one who is kicking for territory.

@Bovidae I actually RM's running game and game management was excellent. Yes, two missed touch finders, but overall a good game.
Mounga was shite.

Crap defense at the end, we seemed to be two men down n the backs. Did not take some of our chance tbf neither did England. Complete failure by Mounga to lead the team around the park.
-
Horrible but at least we have a few things straight.
Papali and Savea absolutely must play together, 2 out of 3 settled in the back row.
Let’s get rid of Havilli now.
Beaudan Barrett has not been the answer at 10 for about 5 seasons, for all the blame Hansen got for the semi- final he was spot on with moving BB from 10. His kicking and game control utter shite.
Finlay Christie has had two opportunities now, and I think we know what we have and it’s not enough.
Havilli is done, we have enough options.
Can anyone really tell me Caleb Clarke is the best wing n NZ? If he does not knock someone out in the first minute not sure what he’s good for. Cannot stay upright long enough for an in and away. -
What I don’t get is even if you want to keep Cane no way you can trust his decision making at Captain. What was the point of having Jordie take that kick a million miles away? Why didn’t he put another scrum down after the scrum penalty in the red zone? I think Cane should be dropped but if you don’t drop him he can’t be Captain.

How is this not a stronger team than when we beat them at 2019 World Cup? 28-20 ABs win.
-
I remember back in the day when ABs played Ireland I would estimate they could not get through 5 phases without a mistake. I would also guess that if they tried to play any open rugby over the course of a game the scre would blow up against them. Now their all round skills seem to match or perhaps be even superior to the ABs and that is across every position. How did this happen?

I fucking love Ardie Savea.
He was equal top clean breaks and defenders beaten with Reece, second in metres. Also second in tackles made at 17 with 1 miss. He fucking rocks
People have underrated him over past 4 seasons. Was easily best forward at 2019 World Cup but he ended up coping blame for loss. For me that loss really fell on Read being past due date as well as Whitelock and Retallick failing to fire.

Ardie motm, Jordan and Whitelock.

A couple of arbitrary observations from this Saffa:
Been reading some of the comments about the AB lineout... I don't think it struggled nearly as much as some of you seemed to think. I guess what hurt was losing one or two crucial ones, but don't forget the one you nicked off us for Webber's try.
And there was another that we fucked up hot on attack, which after two errors by Willie lead to Savea's try
Also saw some comments on Ardi Savea's captaincy. Lukhanyo Am is fast establishing himself as one of our best ever 13's to join the ranks of some illustrious predecessors like Danie Gerber and Jacques Fourie. His defence-organization is supreme, and he really is the creative force of our backline.
I am Am's biggest fan but there is still quite a lot of improvement required with his attacking play. For every piece of play like Saturday there is still a ball dropped cold like is Aus 1.
The biggest point of discussion from a SA point of view is probably Willie Le Roux - he was dreadful and it has been a very long time since he has added enough in the plus column to balance out games like Saturday.
The dropped ball by Am in Aus 1 might have been one of the few errors I have seen by him in a couple of years. His strength seems to be that in the rare occasions he touches the ball super soft hands and quick thinking. Seems the opposite from DeAllende with whom you are guaranteed that the ball will not go past him unless its a skip move.
-
Ardie was heroic from the base of the scrum when we were going backwards. Don’t think I would be confident in Luke or Hoskins in the same situation.

@williethewaiter I hardly knew that Jacobson was on the park. What position was he playing?
Unfortunately that game produced more questions than answers as to our best combinations, still don’t know our best front row, back row, midfield or wings.
Was even shocked when I saw Rettalick looking around at first receiver while Brad Weber is battling for his life against half a dozen Boks! -
@stodders said in All Blacks vs Springboks II:
@victor-meldrew the biggest criticism of the evening was that the ABs put themselves in a position to close the game out. In possession and seconds on the clock. Boks had looked threatening with the ball, but not "strike from 80m" threatening.
TJP should have hoisted a box kick and put the pressure on Boks to win it from 80m. The breakdown is too much of a lottery to wind the clock down.
I’m guessing we would have killed him for not letting the forwards grind out the clock. That part has to be at the feet of Tuipolutu and others, Ardie did magnificently to put us in that position.
