In SA we only got TV in the 70s and following live matches on radio. We had a deaf cousin who was an excellent rugby player (full back) who would came to us with the live matches. My dad use to draw a rugby field on an A4 paper and indicate with the pen as the game continue. I remember when our team (WP & Springbokke) would come close to scoring and the cousin would watch us and jump for joy with us as the try was scored. Being deaf he was hard as a rock and sometimes tackle after the whistle had been blown ended up in a fight.
Myself also followed cricket tests on radio when the Proteas toured Australia from 02h00 in the morning.

Congrats to the All Blacks supporters. At least a worthy effort from the Springbokke.
-
Sorry Boys.
-
Congrats to the All Blacks and Foster. By far the better team. Our defense and aerial game not even close to last week.
-
The morning after starts with a moerse head ache.
PSdT was massive. Although Fourie struggled with his line out throwing, to be 37 years old, nearly starting as nr2 and even captain the Springboks in a WC final, played like a foks terrier. For the All Blacks I thought Retallick was huge.

@Stargazer pretty happy Stormers supporter. Credit to our coach he have been through the worst of politics and still keep coming up trumps
-
The tackle on Kolisi was just unfortunate. Its rugby FFS. Its not the end of the world and maybe a good thing that he can rest for the more serious rugby ahead. I enjoy the Canes solid defense all game.
Stormers have enough depth to go full steam ahead.

@Steve sorry Boet, that lot will get drunk on vuil (brandy)coke tonight.

@majorrage the English refs were excellent. Rassie decided against making videos about them.

The Springboks squad will be announce today.
This one goes back to 1981
-
@Dan54 we haven't win there since 2012. It's going to be a tough ask. Hope to see more running from the Bokke. Big test again for Willemse. Up against Sexton.

RasNaber have created a nice to have problem with player depth in their squad. The new generation of players look like passing the 2019 WC group. Willemse vs Willie, KLA and Moodie vs Kolbey and Mapimpi, AE and Moodie/Kriel vs Am and Ellendig, Libbok vs Pollard, Faf vs Hendricks, Vermeulen vs Wiese, Kwagga vs PST, Etsebeth and Mostert vs Snyman and Kleyn, Malherbe vs Koch, Marx vs Bongi and Kitshoff vs Ox. Then they have third options who can make most country teams.

Hi all, its been some time since I have been in my root forum and good to see most of the old timers still going strong.
The Springboks have made us all very proud and are looking forward to the future.
After we won the previous two WC's we lost control via coaches and players loss but this time Rassie will still control after he build us some real player depth.

A part of the Springbok’s legacy selected for New Zealand Schools A part of the Springbok’s legacy has been fledged into the future of the All Blacks. Hastings Boys’ High’s scrumhalf,… By Hannes Nienaber , In News , At September 16, 2021 A part of the Springbok’s legacy has been fledged into the future of the All Blacks. Hastings Boys’ High’s scrumhalf, Jordi Viljoen, son of former Springbok scrumhalf, Roelof “Joggie” Viljoen, has been included in the New Zealand Schools’ side for 2021. Roelof has toured with the Springboks to Argentina, France, and Wales in 1996. He hasn’t played any tests but he did represent the South African Schools’ side back in 1993 and 1994. In his career, he also represented Northland (2000) and Manawatu (2007-08). Roelof’s father Joggie Viljoen represented the Springboks in six tests in which he scored two tries between 1971 and 1972. He toured Australia with the Springboks in 1971. Another player named in the New Zealand Schools’ side with a famous father is Payton Spencer – the son of former All Black flyhalf Carlos Spencer. Spencer jr. is a product of Hamilton Boys’ High who managed to defend their title as champions of the Super 8 Schools. Hamilton Boys’ High defeated Hastings Boys’ High by 12-10 after losing to the same opposition in their final round-robin match by 13-18. The team from Hamilton has with six representatives the most players in the New Zealand schools’ team. The squad is: Austin Anderson (Hamilton Boys’ High), Torian Barnes (St Andrew’s College), Vernon Bason (Feilding High School), Tahlor Cahill (Hamilton Boys’ High), Che Clarke (King’s College), Chicago Doyle (King’s College), Esau Filimoehala (Auckland Grammar), Cooper Flanders (Hastings’ Boys’ High), Finn Hurley (Otago Boys’ High), Isaac Hutchinson (St. Bede’s College), Gage Jackson (Auckland Grammar), Taha Kemara (Hamilton Boys’ High), Siale Lauaki (St. Patrick’s College), Francis Manuleleua (King’s College), Matt Monaghan (King’s College), Sean Ralph (Hamilton Boys’ High), Gabe Robinson (Hamilton Boys’ High), Andrew Smith (St. Peter’s School), Payton Spencer (Hamilton Boys’ High), Tany Tafa (Kelston Boys’ High), Toby Taylor (Tauranga Boys’ High), Essendon Tuitupou (Kelston Boys’ High), Jordi Viljoen (Hastings Boys’ High), Riley Williams (Auckland Grammar), Malachi Wrampling-Alec (St. Paul’s Collegiate).
