As for leaping to defence of his character? Why would I do that? I dont know him.. and he is a politician. I am interested in the facts of the matter, not if he is a nice guy. Maybe the volumes it speaks to you is that people defending Trump are doing so because they look at the facts, and those that are attacking him are doing it because he is they dont think he is very nice.
I don't give a rats if Trump is 'nice' or not.
I do care that he is a proven self centered and thin skinned reactionary egotist who makes knee jerk decisions.
If I was an american tax payer I would also be concerned that he is spending millions of taxpayer dollars at his own businesses.Proven self centered? Jeez he must be first president to have that trait. .oh wait they ALL do. Thin skinned... I think he has been incredibly restrained after the disgusting and dishonest attacks he has been subjected to. Maybe if the media and left stopped being complete and utter piston wristed gibbons. Things would improve. But they won't.. because Trump is a republican president.Bush got similar treatment... if a lesser version.
The lesson appears to be that if you are a republican president you have to put up with lies and twuntish behaviour from media etc. If you fight back you are thin skinned. Wouldnt be so bad if Democrat presidents had the same volume of shit to deal with.
As for the business side...
People could care about that.. i think it rubbish beltway nonsense. Time..... and the court case will tell. Until then I will just think it is yet another part attack from the left. But I am pleased the left is finally showing some interest in cash corrupion in politics... let's talk about the Clinton Foundation. The one under actual FBI investigation
It should come as no surprise that he who has a history as a twunt, and continues to act as a twunt gets treated like twunt.
Theres really no need for any media outlet to make up damaging lies about Trump - Trump gives them so much ammunition that it really isn't necessary. If there's no need for making up damaging lies, then why do it?
I totally agree that he's a twunt, but being a twunt isn't illegal and certainly isn't an impeachable offence.

@Baron-Silas-Greenback and also given comey was a republican, and torpedoed the Clinton campaign, how can you basket him with this corrupt leftist media that is out to get trump who is behaving so wonderfully?
Because he had zero choice but to notify congress. He was betting on Clinton winning when he usurped the DOJ and didn't recommend prosecution.
Why did he let Lynch bully him into lying for political reasons.
Comey offered this unsatisfying explanation. He absolutely should have pushed back on Lynch.
"Well, it concerned me because we were at the point where we refused to confirm the existence as we typically do of an investigation for months. And was getting to a place where that looked silly because the campaigns we're talking about interacting with the FBI in the course of our work. The Clinton campaign at the time was using all kinds of euphemisms, security matters, things like that for what was going on. We were getting to a place where the attorney general and I were both going to testify and talk publicly about it I wanted to know was she going to authorize us to confirm we have an investigation. She said yes, don't call it that, call it a matter. I said why would I do that? She said, just call it a matter. You look back in hindsight, if I looked back and said this isn't a hill worth dying on so I just said the press is going to completely ignore it. That's what happened when I said we opened a matter. They all reported the FBI has an investigation open. So that concerned me because that language tracked the way the campaign was talking about the FBI's work and that's concerning."

Scandals and outrage sells papers.
I agree, being a twunt is not illegal and to my knowledge is not an impeachable offence... yet -
The issue at present with trump is not that there is any evidence of collusion with Russia at all, but how he thinks - because he thinks it's a crap story - that he can just tell people to make it go away and not have it investigated. That's wrong, it's corrupt, and it's the behaviour of a dictator (or CEO).
Russians trying to fuck with us elections is a big deal, and it all should be investigated, and if you have guys lying about meetings then even more so. -

This was not the case. IIRC at the time the general consensus was that it was highly irregular to notify congress about developments pertaining to an ongoing investigation

To his adversaries, sacking Comey made Trump look like he was hiding something.
Telling Lester Holt that it was because of the "Russia thing" reaffirmed their suspicions and made the job of his administration much harder.
Everyone had all but forgotten about the "scandalous dossier", now we're talking about it again and not only that, we now know that the FBI are still actively investigating it.
Like many headlines during Trumps presidency, this is largely a mess of Trump's own making but you'll never hear him say it. -

But I find it hard to accept that this whole "Russia stole/hacked/influenced/bought the election" or the accusations of Trump being some kind of Russian puppet are something he's brought upon himself. This was a narrative cooked up by the losers and happily run with the Democratic party and large sections of the media. Arguing that Trump deserves it because he's such a dick is a pretty farking weak argument.

the bipartisan consensus seems to be that russia attempting to influence the election is fact. then you have flynn (and to a lesser degree sessions) lying about meeting with russians. put those together and it is worth investigating, it's a big deal having a foreign country fucking with american democracy. it's not something that has been made up by the media, though they are guilty of sensationalising it for clicks.

Amazing to think that is was just months most the media were beating the drum that Trump was a pawn of Putin. That has now gone away... are the media contrite? No... they just find new BS to peddle.

It is completely true. Care to point to a media outlet that is still claiming Trump is a paw n of Putin?

If he is as clean as he says, wouldn't Trump welcome the investigations that would settle things once and for all? It would be ridiculous if he got in trouble for try to obstruct a federal investigation that proved he was a-OK

I'm working and don't have time to go back. But a quick trawl netted this article which also has a link to justice policy regarding conduct in the run up to elections 2012. I assume it was carried over to 2016

It is not difficult. If you find it offensive is not relevant. It is going to get a reaction from other posters who will get annoyed by it... the thread will turn into posters insulting each other.... And this thread will get locked. Play the ball and not the man is a rule of TSF and is being particularly enforced in this thread.
