Napier Tech 87 - Hastings R&S 7Tim Farrell's ankle injury at the U20's must have not been too serious as he played for the Texans.
Tim Farrell:
"It was definitely frustrating not being there and it's hard letting everybody know the reasons behind it. I had a four-week injury which turned out to be a two-week one. But I'm still in the photo and hopefully I will get a medal." The Altherm Window Systems Napier Technical club player, who turns 19 on Friday, said being part of the initial stages of the Baby Blacks campaign has made him more determined to try and make next year's Baby Blacks team.
Farrell said he was stoked to begin his comeback with 45 minutes during the Texans' 38-7 win against Ansin & Monteith Hastings Rugby and Sports on Saturday. "That was my first premier game and it was good to play alongside players I watched when I was coming through college rugby like Cracker [Mark Braidwood]." A part-time geography and environmental studies student at Victoria University in Wellington in between his rugby commitments, Farrell, has an exam in the capital on Saturday morning but hopes to return to Napier in time for the Texans top-of-table match against unbeaten defending championships Shield Snorters Insurances Limited Napier Old Boys Marist. "Hopefully I can play well in the remaining club matches this season and earn some minutes for the Shield Snorters come Mitre 10 Cup time," he added.

This annoys the hell out of me. Rugby is, and should be, a great sport to play and to watch, but it's idiots that spoil it for everyone with their misbehaviour.

There was a match I watched at Elwood Park a couple of years ago - obviously Hastings RS against somebody whom I now can't remember.
The match was drawing to a close, when the Hastings RS coach made the comment to the players and management around him, "Geez it must be close to fulltime now."
Then literally three seconds later some qc (rhymes with deer hunt) on the sideline a couple of places away from the coach starts yelling out "Come on ref, blow the final whistle." And proceeded to yell it out three or four more times over the next couple of minutes.
There is no ground clock at Elwood Park so the guy on the sideline had no clue of exactly how much time was left to go, or if the coach was right or wrong, but still just nutted off because the coach had passed an innocent comment about the referee.

Watched Havelock North v Clive today.
Tiaan Falcon and Jonah Lowe both played for Clive, Karl Lowe did not play but was watching.
Clive won 22-15, three tries to nil.
Fullback Tianua Poto did the Clive goalkicking. Tiaan Falcon's only attempt was a penalty from 45 metres out with about five minutes left which missed.
The Clive forward pack was good. Their Shield Snorters Josh Eden-Whaitiri and Jorian Tangaere both stood out.

From HBT article about Geoff Cridge re-signing with the Canes:
The 22-year-old, 2m tall player is expected to turn out for his Hastings Rugby and Sports club for the first time this winter in the next fortnight after recovering from knee surgery.
So if he stays healthy, he should be available for the Shield Snorters right from the start of the Mitre 10 Cup season.

That was a bad mistake by Aotea.
They did not have an international clearance for Tongia and were informed of this by the HBRU on Friday.
Aotea still played Tongia the following day against Otane and won.
Otane, inevitably, protested and their appeal was upheld by the HBRU. The match, and competition points, have been awarded to Otane.
Perhaps the first line should read "That was dumb by Aotea"?
