JLR releases another tape and then there’s more news of our dodgy Czech
"The Czech Republic has also indicated a desire to extradite Sroubek, who had an arrest warrant in the country for outstanding criminal proceedings."
There we are - he does have somewhere to go after all.

Probably there'll be a slight bounce in the next quarter given the nature of the survey, but on the face of it, business confidence vs. business actions might be two different things over the last quarter.

@taniwharugby Always good to see the "no surprises" rule in practice!

The obvious conclusion here is that the fool should spend less time obsessing over the media and more time doing her actual job.
I can imagine the calls home over the past week, “Quick Gaylord bang out another deck, is Neve teething yet? Anything ? One of you do something ffs!”

Labour announces plan to re-enter Pike River Mine. Cost has increased from $23m to $37m. All the known dangers still there.

Hope he’s first in and the combination of alcohol fumes off him and methane cause an explosion limited to his immediate vicinity.

Under the new H&S laws I assume Little will be accountable if something goes wrong?
-
Would a step to signing off entry require the people involved to waive their rights? to accept the level of risk and accept personal responsibility versus it being held against the Govt/Little?
Really hoping someone holds Winnie to his word on being first into the breach. But I haven't seen any flying pigs lately...

More importantly shouldnt every family have to sign off on this?
If my relative was in there, I would want them left in peace. What right do so some families have to demand others are disturbed? -

@baron-silas-greenback this has been pushed by a couple of families who seem politically motivated. My brother worked on the mines near there for a couple of years and the consensus amongst the guy he worked with -some of whom lost friends that day is that they should be with their mates . The landowner has agreed to access for a memorial .

A good mate of mine is from the area and it's definitely a touchy subject best left untalked about over a few beers. Personally I say move on and leave it, naturally he knows someone who knows someone who lost their lives.....at the risk of stating the blindingly obvious none of this is gonna bring anyone back.

@paekakboyz not sure you can waive the rights?
I expect a raft of people will be held to account if something goes wrong.
Was listening to someone on the radio today (may have been Cockshorn?) and he reckons that going in will result in providing further evidence that there was a cover up between Contact and the National Govt. and will result in some people being charged.
Obviously most people are happy to give these families some closure and no one wants anyone further to get hurt, but you almost hope thier arrogance is rewarded with something happening (not injury or more death) as they re-enter and then they have to back down and say initial reports were correct, re-entry is not possible.
So the cost is significantly more than the cost for the Flag referendum...yet barely a whisper about the cost, is that cos you will be seen as cruel?

Given Key made a commitment to get the bodies out and then back-tracked you have to believe that he was advised it was too dangerous. Otherwise why renege when there was nothing in it politically for National
I haven't read todays presser but I didn't think it was confirmed they would go deep enough to remove any remains?
