I actually thought this zerohedge article that flicked by my feed yesterday was most like BS. But now seeing this charge clearly its true, if you can't read it you are probably in NZ where certain ISP's have now banned the domain.
Apparently the site blocking is mostly on mobile providers
Some people have reported kiwifarms and the chans being down. They were ok for me when I tested. Zerohedge was blocked on a couple of mobile providers but not on my home networks ISP
Skimming through the stories I'm not sure why zerohedge was partially blocked. There was nothing unusual in the NZ stories.. maybe there was something bad in the comments under articles?
(the site is just a boomer right wing news site a bit like Breitbart)Whatever blocking they are doing seems half arsed

@canefan Refused bail for sharing a vile video. That is terrifying.
Not just vile. People being shot to death in real time. I doubt he'll get anything other than a fraction of the potential punishment. But a message should be sent
He hasnt even been found guilty yet. The court has gone vigilante. Only reason to refuse bail is protect society or stop a flight risk. It is NOT supposed to be a punishment . Just stop and think what you are supporting. You actually want bail used as a weapon on the innocent?
If you do. You are helping accomplish the shooters stated mission. I am afraid most people now are.

I saw that one on the news, and thought the denial of bail probably has much more to do with the “target acquired” imagery prior to the attack than anything to do with sharing the video.
I wonder whether either some of the details of the charges have been suppressed/under-reported, or if further charges such as conspiracy with the main offender are pending.
-
Speaking of closed down sites or suppressed content . A couple of subreddits have been shut down, partially due to the video/live stream of the shooting and the associated commentary. I think they've flirted with shutting them down historically around other terrorist footage, but this seems to have been the final straw. Not 100% sure if it's to protect Reddit from being seen as linked to 4 or 8chan, or the owners protecting their rep/income. The big news subreddit closure was watchpeopledie which had all sorts of stuff, accidents and the like alongside shootings and other nasty stuff. Grim stuff but not all about war or terrorism etc.

Yup that’s my feeling too, couldn’t help but feel the above posts missed that detail in the story

I did not read it. I went by what canefan said.

I only caught it mentioned during the news report on tv, I went into the article to confirm it.

@Virgil Ahhhhhhh that is interesting. Hopefully he was denied bail to protect us from him copycatting. I hope so
I think that was the case. I gather they discovered his “target acquired” photo of the main attacked mosque (which he allegedly posted on social media a week before the massacre) and perhaps he was a little to enthusiastic/pre-prepared to share the video, perhaps looking like he had prior knowledge...
It’ll come out in the end, but I’m happy he’s behind bars until the next court appearance and it’s all worked through.
I saw somewhere today that Facebook has deleted or blocked the video from being uploaded 1,500,000 times so far, so on the face of it there’s something more to this one.

If that is the case I'd happily stand corrected on the refusal of bail until it is investigated.

I wanted to make that point but making and eating dinner got in the way 👍

I agree. Bail should have definitely been granted. If convicted he will probably not get a custodial sentence so denying bail seems extreme, borderline petulant on the part of the police and honourable judge.
I should point out that sharing the video was only one component of the crime. He also posted a message in support of the killer.

@Damo said in Christchurch Gunman in Mosque:
Where does it say he posted "target acquired" BEFORE the attack? I haven't read that.
The other charge alleges an offence between March 8 and March 15, under the same Act, by making an objectionable publication showing a photograph of the mosque in Deans Avenue with the message "Target Acquired" and further chat messaging around inciting extreme violence.

The article says between the 8th and the 15th so might not be before but considering the limelight worth following up with.
-
@Donsteppa Thanks. That piece of info was not in the herald article I read.
I may be wrong about bail.
I'd like to see a link between he and the killer before I would think prison time is appropriate. Dumb 18 year olds make stupid posts for no real reason sometimes. Might be referring to something completely unrelated.

Looks like he's going to try and follow the lead of that Norwegian nutter. Should have a closed trial
Anybody that represents himself has an idiot for a client is the quote here I think.

Also pertinent:
Most details of bail hearings are suppressed under the Bail Act, though the outcome is allowed to be reported. Judge O'Driscoll made orders that banned publication of details from the police summary of facts and the document and submissions in which the police opposed the man's release on bail.
Usuall the claim is that judges are too soft on bail.
