Early forecast is for a balmy night so this one should be a cracker.
what exactly is the definition of a balmy night in Wellington?

Yep exactly how I pictured it. I have flown into Wellington on a few balmy days and the plane is going sideways as it comes in over the cook Strait and you can look out your back window and see directly down the runway

I think everyone decides to make lame digs about Wellingtons weather cos deep down they know that everywhere else in New Zealand sucks complete arse in comparison to the best little capital in the World.
no, it's because the weather in Wellington is fucked.

Mate, Wellington is awesome. Sensational place, except for the weather

It's great, but a bit difficult to enjoy when you're soaking wet and trying not to get blown away in a gale. We went back to Lower Hutt one Christmas and after yet another day of drizzle my brother (who barely remembers NZ) asked why we hadn't come in summer. But if you don't give a shit about the weather then all good 👍.

You choose not to even live in NZ so your opinion is rendered moot.

I don't. That's what umbrellas and beanies are for.
I don't think a bit of rain and wind makes a place bad, people constantly gripe about it when it happens while they visit here like it's the first time they've ever seen it in their lives and their own homelands are some utopia without wind and rain.
Get a grip and stop exaggerating.

I don't think a bit of sun makes a place great, people constantly boast about it when it happens (can't beat Wellington on a good day) like it's the only place they've ever seen in their lives with sun and others own homelands are some dystopia that never get sun.
Get a grip and stop exaggerating.

I went to every Canes game in Wellington in Year One of the Hammettuer (might as well have used the money as toilet paper). And I'm 100% not kidding every game was played in a near torrential downpour going sideways. The actual worst thing about it was that on all bar one of those days it was nice and sunny about two hours before kick off.

Doesn't help if the umbrella gets blown inside out.
Agree about the sun thing though. Plenty of God awful shit holes with nice weather -

Being an expert in destroying a rugby team is a far cry from the power of Tawhirimatea.
