I wonder. Nowhere near as much as he was asking I'd wager. How much money did he have on his contract? Now people can stop focussing on him as a lightning rod for free speech and just see him for the kook he is

Contact had about $4M left to run on it so is day that's in the ballpark.
RA can start the new year clean.

Was talking to my gay cousin and his partner about this Folau thing and they had a unique and relevant take on the whole saga.
Basically their message to Raelene and Allan Joyce and all other heterosexuals condemning Folau on behalf of all homosexuals was "Go fuck yourselves!"
His position was; if an adulterer, drunkard, idolator, fornicator, thief, atheist or liar was actually offended by Folau's quote then stand on that as it affects you and you have a genuine grievance.
But, if all of that is "water off your back" or nonsense talk, and you're standing up for the gays out of ill informed pity, well the arrogance and superiority of your position is an insult to anyone born homosexual.
You're basically saying "look it doesn't bother me as an atheist, but the homosexuals obviously can't mentally cope with this nonsense like I can. They are intellectually inferior, can't evaluate their position as well as me and need me to help them - the poor, intellectually challenged gays without the same rationalising mechanisms as me."
I got their point.
Basically their position was mind your own fucking business and stop fawning over us like we're victims to dumb talk, while you're not.
You're not offended by it, so why assume that I am.
How can we get on with our lives when you all continually keep pointing us out as fragile marginalised members of society?
Their last point as rugby fans was; stop using us as victims and stop denigrating our intelligence, not all of us are as precious and fragile as you'd believe us to be. All we want to do is watch rugby and Izzy's good at rugby. His nonsense beliefs mean nothing to us.
Fair call. The whole thing has been about upsetting gays with nary a word about the other "sinners". Incredibly arrogant in my view, and my relations (sample size of 2 homos).

@jegga Can't access
@Siam The "issue" with that position is that they have also assumed that their lack of of offense is common across all gay folk, including the 14yr old who is afraid to come out because his rugby teammates won't ever speak to him again and his Dad will beat him and his church will cast him out. It's quite an arrogant view in and of itself.
For me though this just keeps coming back to the employment issue. You tell your employer you're going to behave in a certain way then you don't, them you double down, then you're on pretty thin ice.
-
@voodoo yep, I agree.
And in the power fight between the will of the employer and the law of the land (an ongoing civilisation battle), we're none the wiser what prevails - except that lawyers always win.And, we've made remarkable strides of progress for the 14 year olds situation, truly remarkable and should reset our cognizance of that issue to reflect 2019 as opposed to 1989

I think it's a great attitude by your cousin and his partner but they di miss a couple of points. Those raised by @voodoo and also the fact that all the others he is sentencing to hell are matters of personal choice rather than something out of one's control.
Plus of course the employment issues mentioned. With Folau saying the one thing to RA and then doing another, isn't he a liar?
See you there Izzy, with all the gays and about 90% of the posters on here.
-
@Catogrande you put fact and hell in the same sentence bro 😀.
Replace God with "Santa" and we have the real crux of this tempest - fake outrage to promote an agenda.

Now that the employment issue is sorted, complete with utter bullshit press release, here's hoping fuckwit fades into obscurity where he belongs and no media outlet feels the need to share any of his insane ramblings ever again.
I hope they do, its going to make it even funnier when Maria tearfully tells womens weekly about "My betrayal by Israel" after she comes home early from a holiday or something and catches him snacking on some blokes chutney ferret.

@Siam your gay cousin who knows the whole situation and has a bit more right leaning opinion than expected doesn’t know Joyce is gay?
Kindly don't besmirch or insult my cousin based on my writing a recollection on a forum. Not fair man
