Saw the latest Star Wars film last night .
Saw the trailer for cats too, the small screen doesn’t do it justice for sure . Got a few frownings from the mrs for laughing at how incredibly bad the bits I saw were .
What were they thinking ?So that's your "Mrs" preferred pronoun.

What were they thinking ?round these here parts, usually after you say you have seen a film, it is customary to give your thoughts on the film or a brief comical rating...or was the highlight of your trip to the movies, the Cats trailer...

Saw Jojo Rabbit last night. Some real good laughs but its a pretty awkward era to make jokes out of, at times it felt a bit scattered between super sadness and then some hilarity, reminded me of 'Boy' in some ways. Waititi as Hitler was hilarious and Sam Rockwell was brilliant.
4 Stielhandgranate's out of 5 German BowiesNot often I agree with you about anything , but saw this last night and agree with these thoughts.
Added to Waititi and Rockwell both the two leads, the little boy and the girl, Johannsen and the tubby kid were great too.
:::
I was worried the whole move that the tubby kid would get killed.
:::
The Gestapo team had the cinema I was in in stitches so much that I missed a bunch of the dialogue immediately after the heils.
I personally think that this movie handled the era and the subject matter better than a film like The Boy with the Striped Pyjamas (which I thought the conclusion of was disgusting) and although it was very comedic I thought it walked the line between that and the super sadness you mention really well.

A Quiet Place
Anything with Emily Blunt in it is worth watching. This is a good and reasonably unique take on the horror suspense genre.
But my favourite bit is the kid getting killed on day 89 for not doing as he was told.
-
6 Underground - Ryan Reynolds and other peoples (most notable Adria Arjona and Mélanie Laurent)
Decent action flick, with a 15 min car chase scene to open.
3.5 Lime green Alfa Romeos out of 5 sinking super yachts
The Informer - pretty solid cast leading this; Joel Kinneman, CLive Owen, Common, Rosamund Pike and Ana de Armas
KInneman is a Polish American ex-con working undercover for the FBI, who screw him over when they get him put back in Prison to take down a Polish mobster.
Pretty decent action/crime film.
3.5 Polish thugs out of 5 shivs
Am sure @Nepia will be torn as I think he has a dislike of Owen, but a love for de Armas
@antipodean I see a 2nd Quiet place is being or has been made....not sure how that will go.

DreamWorks "Screwed Up": Why Cult Classic 'Galaxy Quest' Wasn't a Bigger Hit
Twenty years after the meta sci-fi movie hit theaters, director Dean Parisot and stars Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Justin Long look back at censored scenes, and reveal the apology Jeffrey Katzenberg issued over the film's lackluster marketing: "They didn’t seem particularly interested in what we were doing." [...]
Saw it on the big screen when it was released twice. Was dragged to it the first time; I liked it so much I dragged some friends to see it again. It really is a delightful little film.
-
@antipodean has Ms Blunt in it, plus Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou so is hope it could be good...
-
@taniwharugby same writers and director. The prequel bits look excellent.
-
@taniwharugby It's crazy confusing for me, I'm not fussed either way by Kinnerman but don't like Pike as an actor, but do like Common as an actor.
I reckon Ana de Armas is enough to make it watchable.
Watched Jumanji 2, good fun like the first one, loses a mark for putting Karen Gillan in long pants for the second half of the movie ... if she wasn't so pale she'd almost be the perfect woman. Kevin Hart was great kind of playing against type by not being he motormouth.
Marriage Story, this was a good film, but I don't think I enjoyed watching it. Has Scar Jo and Kylo Ren playing a couple breaking up.
I also rewatched the prequel trilogy and the Clone Wars movie over Xmas, but I need some resting time before I write a novel on my thoughts about them.

"Look around you… can you fashion some sort of rudimentary lathe?" Best line in the movie.

@antipodeanoff the list of prospective baby sitters in 2020My brothers, sisters-in-law and cousins better not find I was ever on that list...
Movies that have kids that put others in mortal harm has always irritated me. Nice to see one get what was deserved.
-
@Salacious-Crumb outstanding film. Surprisingly good cast, great script... by grabthar's hammer Alan Rickman is amazing
-
@antipodean I know what you mean. I am actually likely to switch to another movie if a child is introduced for tension purposes in a horror or thriller.
