Coronavirus - Overall

@Kirwan probably overreaction
I see there is some pushback on the line that the Flu is more dangerous. It's impossible to get an accurate view on how dangerous this is with all the click bait glee in the media reporting on it.

So I have family members cancelling travel to Singapore because of this virus.
Is that an over reaction @Tim or prudent?
I am off to Singapore in April. The olds are off to Vietnam same time. At this stage I'm no concerned, most of the cases are people coming out of China and infecting their immediate relatives and friends. I reserve the right to change should things pick up steam, but I expect it will fade out in hotter countries

Wife is off to Japan in three weeks to catch up with a friend coming from Honkers. Neither are concerned.
-
Pretty big spike in infections and deaths in the last day or two.
This is an interesting tool showing infections, deaths and recoveries

Always cover your food
If it was food it would be shrink wrapped

@Rembrandt Singapore are apparently not messing around. A mate had colleagues cancel a conference trip because the Singapore government have put a stop to any significant public gatherings
Yeah its a bit scary looking
I imagine the panic would be worse than the disease, haven't heard of any shortages yet. I'd be concerned about it slipping over to Johor Bahru, going across that border and you see a significant drop-off in available wealth to deal with something like this.

I'm not entirely surprised I suppose. Singapore is one of the major Asian business hubs. My conference in April is looking a little shaky right now

My mate is a physician, he says the Spanish flu is still King
Having said that, it's still a massive health event purely looking at the infection numbers, he reckons the mass lock down in China may go some way to helping stop the disease. But if it really blows up everything stops. In China much of industry has stopped and it is having flow on effects all over the world. Interesting times

@taniwharugby see, I think those sorts of articles are dangerous and just fear mongering for profit.
