Thankfully it’s Friday here, hasn’t always been the easiest keep my mind on work. Kinda getting over this constant cleaning and using hand sanitiser 100 times a day.
Those of you in Europe and Asia hope you can keep hanging in there.
I’m hopeful here in NZ we don’t ‘catch up’ to the rest of the world, hoping no drastic action is needed.
Keep your chins up, keep drinking tea or anything harder if required... oh and I’ve heard crumpets are great in times like this too..Cheers Virg. The worst part is not knowing when the worst part is going to be.
Boris mentioned 12 weeks a few times tonight.
He was pressed to elaborate and looked stumped. There's still a lot of "let's hope all you people are sensible and take advice and we should be OK..." absolutely convinced they are now just going for hopes of herd immunity whether we like it or not.
Positive note, the "pregnancy test but with blood" sounds promising. He has a way with words old Boris, I'm almost warming to him now.Thought experiment. If all the over 70s were incarcerated and unable to interact with general public, would there be a problem with dropping all restrictions?
There would be lots of infections, and some under 70s would go to hospital, but such as I understand the stats the hospital system would cope. And economic impact would be fairly subdued.
Or are we in completely different place?

Butter and golden syrup is beautiful
I'm now getting homesick for that waxy white honey I grew up with.

@canefan Tomato sauce It was a thing as a kid sunday evening watch Disneyland eat crumpets with tomato sauce.
Only years later did I find out that apparently most people find tom sce on crumpets weird.
Cheese and Mayo on crumpets was my staple growing up. Grilled until golden.
Do we need our own crumpet thread now..

Are you quarantining their under 70s carers and nurses with them?

Procedures to ensure contact is minimal in this scenario. Let's say quarantined carers working fortnightly rosters, etc..

Don't like to agree with you often but 👏🏻
What's with the crumpets with toppings people. NO.
Butter ONLY.
just a little polite reminder guys... This is a serious thread.. Keep on topic 😉 -
@R-L nah, butter and honey or failing that, golden syrup.
Question time would be interesting tonight if it wasn't full of entitled people demanding others and/or the government do stuff for them.

We will upset @R-L if we keep going off topic..
But yes clover honey was the pale looking one

@pakman I think we need to understand this is likely to be with us like influenza and those vulnerable people will always be at a higher risk. The key is getting enough people exposed to it and some sort of immunity so the health system will cope. Then you can remove the restrictions and life will go back to normal, sick people will likely die at a greater rate due to this virus and healthcare systems will need to grow to adapt to it.
Ultimately long term this is another reason to get healthy, off the smokes, healthy weight etc.
-
Mods be cleaning up this crumpet mess like... -

And as a bizarre coincidence, today I had a crumpet topped with smoked mackerel and grilled cheddar with a little piccalilli. Absolutely feckin gorgeous. The glass or two of carignan with it was tops too.
