Lockdown/Covid Check In

What would be nice would be some indication of what the scenarios look like for coming out of this lockdown. When you look at the official alert info, it's just so vague, deliberately I know. But if we get through 11 more days, only to be told that we can go to L3, and that all that actually means is a few more shops being able to deliver stuff, that's going to be pretty hard to take for a lot of people.
Not trying to be negative, but I think we should mentally prepare for a very cautious bureaucratic response if my experience of getting evacuated in the Nelson fires last year is anything to go by.

Now that I've got the Coronas, I'm going to see if a strong dose of Merlot is the cure.
Fair dinkum? I can't tell if you have purchased some Corona beers or if you have been infected? Hoping not the latter.
I thank you sir! Well done!

I could almost live with that if I knew what that actually meant. It's the thought that in 9 days I could find out that nothing meaningful will change despite great stats between now and then that disturbs me.

Really tough day yesterday.
Found out an old mate is on a ventilator. 53, asthmatic. He was 20% chance but now they feel heβs through the worst. So fingers crossed, but shit gets real when you know people doing it tough.
We had a call with all my original HK mates - all over the globe now. Great to speak but one guy opened up about his issues with depression. Iβll not elaborate but heβs now getting the help he needs as is seriously struggling with lockdown.
Scary uptick for the Rage fam. Keep safe all, keep your distance.

@Chris-B yeah, away from home. Mum is in the North Island and we are in QT. Wife's fam is Sydney. And our belongings are split between storage in Sydney, QT, and the villa in Bali that we have prepaid rent on until end-June π€¦π½ββοΈ
Your kids go to school in Bali?

That sort of "fragmentation" is very tough - only good thing is that living the ex-pat life sort of prepares you for it.
Hope we see a few days of single digit cases soon - even some zeroes - so that we can escape sooner rather than later.

Has anyone on here actually had THE DISEASE* yet?
I've got a sore throat, tonsilly feeling though, very achey, all very much tonsillitis symptoms I think ππ»
Must admit, a bit worried.*don't use its name, take away it's power π
-
@R-L Who knows - though WHO says the most common symptoms are a dry cough, fever and tiredness - so don't panic yet.
My neighbour's sister had it and she described it as, "like having two chicken kebabs smeared in Wasabi sauce stuck up her nose."

No, but people close to me have. Sorry to hear you are unwell, poor you, hope you have a swift and full recovery.
Advice I received. Most common signs of it are a dry, inefficient continuous cough, fatigue and/or fever. Monitor your temperature, if it goes up and you develop any fever symptoms, then take two paracetamols every six hours and have total rest.
As you are in the UK, let the NHS 111 website guide you on whether your symptoms are likely to be COVID-19: https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19/
Call 111 if you are very unwell and call 999 if you think something is seriously wrong (struggling to breathe). All the best!

Do you get hay fever? As the early summer conditions have really ramped it up.
Could well be a side effect of that
-
Thanks guys. I do get hay fever which I've been taking antihistamines for for the last month, this definitely feels like tonsillitis. I've had tonsillitis a LOT in the past, wouldn't even think of consulting GP/ 111 unless I had pustules with fever as I know I can tolerate it pretty well when it's viral, usually know when antibiotics are needed.
I too know quite a few people who have had suspected covid, they said a sore dry throat was experienced but not tonsilly....
It has definitely made me panic a bit when I normally wouldn't at all, haven't had tonsillitis in past few years so I'm second guessing it... Having a word with myself.
-
@R-L Quite often people are serial tonsillitis victims. I went through a stage of getting it every other year for a while. A right bloody nuisance. However, cross fingers (I'm not going to say touch wood on this cess pit of a forum), nothing for a good few years now.
But you're right, you know it when it comes.
-
Bonesetta is a worrier, so I think she's had it about 3 times so far. Don't actually know anyone personally that's had it yet.
Being a mild asthmatic I'm in two minds about getting it. Is it just gonna be a slightly worse state than really bad asthma so something to shrug at, or is it going to be fuuuuuucken owwwwww.
-
I saw a post from someone I know who had returned from Aus (was just before the 'mandatory' ISO) went into self ISO anyway, got tested just before lockdown I think it was, positive result (she said she was like case #65 or something)
She has now just had all clear of 14 days sympton free, she had been a smoker, has mild asthma but seems to have had it with minimal issues.

You really shouldn't take medical advice from rugby coaches, it doesn't work when they call us "New Zealand", so it is unlikely to work in this case either.
The internet is always a good place to look for medical advice. I discovered that I had ebola last year. Turns out that my self diagnosis was a bit off and I had a hangover, but I now know a bit about ebola if it comes up on who wants to be a millionaire.

Merlot certainly isn't a cure.
