Right. I've just had a Coronavirus test. Had flu-like symptoms and a dryish cough for a few days. Here's the detail.
BOOKING
Go online and enter your name and mobile number. You then get a SMS after 5 minutes which gives you a secure link.
Access that link, you enter personal details & your NHS number. Once you do that you get a choice of testing stations and times. Choose your appointment and you get sent an SMS and/or email with details and a QR code. You can get a test the same day in 30 minutes slots or the next day with 5 minutes slots. I booked a place 20 miles away
THE TEST
You arrive at the testing station, your QR code is scanned and you get directed to a reception area where your details are confirmed and then you head-off to the test area. Not as bad as has been suggested. I coughed a bit with the throat swab and the nostril swab was fine - hardly noticed it. You then leave and get the YES/NO test in 48-72 hrs via email/SMS
The whole thing was very simple, easy and slick - someone's done a bloody good job with this. Place was virtually empty and the Tester told me they were running at 10-15% capacity.
Just got the result.
Had Test at 1230 on 25 May. Result at 19:14 on 26 May.
That's pretty impressive.
Negative I presume?

@Victor-Meldrew said in Coronavirus - UK:
Yep.
Negative on the HIV, HepB and Chalmydia too apparently.
Don't say I don't stand up for you Vic.

Back on the Cummings saga, I note that Hancock was asked about whether fines that others received while out moving their kids for childcare will be rescinded. Can't find the anecdotes or evidence that others have been fined but if so, it tightens the noose a bit more.
Even if they do say that fines were a mistake under the rules it points to Cummings using 'privileged knowledge' that was not clearly explained to others, including the police. -
I am fed up with hypocritical bleaters. I’m betting that a large proportion of the UK public have broken the rules at some point. In a group of immediate neighbours and close circle friends I know of 6 groups who have hosted people at home at various times throughout the lockdown. Several of these are are moaning about Cummings whilst conveniently forgetting their own indiscretions (or justifying that they are not indiscretions).
I understand what he did and why he did it. As the PM’s chief advisor, he is at he core of the government’s position and handling of the situation. He needed to be at the coal face, especially as his boss had just tested positive. I’ve got no problem with this being viewed as one rule for the masses and one for people like him.
He may be a fluffybunny , but he’s an important fluffybunny (at least in the eyes of the inner government sanctum).

@MajorRage That is shameful.

Just cancelled sky. Told them on the phone it was explicitly for this.

But he wasn't 'at the coalface' and his kid received their childcare from him and his wife. They chose a preferable place to sit out their illness and drove their under the guise of 'what might happen'.
As I said earlier though the issue here is not the detail it is the visual (which is being proved by public opinion). BoJo defending him (I note he has gone to ground now) and what looks very much like a contrived story after the fact, just makes the situation worse.
It has been massively badly handled and smacks of poor advice and/or disdain for the public.
An instant sacking wasn't required and much of the damage could have been averted by an acceptance that Cummings probably pushed the intent of the rule a bit far but did it with knowledge of a rule that may not have been communicated clearly.
The 60 mile trip should have been admonished rather than bullshitted. -

Yeah all good. As I was out I went for the premature ejaculation test as well. Got there early too.

I wonder if BoJo will pull 'daddy day care' duty around 4pm this afternoon
