Worth it's own thread now we have the Synder Cut coming for Justice League, a new Batman movie, and some very interesting news coming out about Micheal Keaton coming back as Batman too!
Rumour is that he's signing for a multi-movie deal to act as a Nick Fury type role, being introduced in the new Flash movie (potential for all the Batmans to appear in that movie, incuding the Thomas Wayne Batman. So Adam West, Bale, Battfleck, all of them, which will be nuts).
It'll be the Batman Beyond, mentor type Batman, but instead of the Terry Batman, it's supposed to a mentor to Batgirl.

What's a Synder Cut?
Is Keaton coming back as Batman or a Fury type role or is it one of the same?I don't understand your two last sentences but am excited all the same.
-
yeah, i saw it reported as the Batman Beyond Bruce wayne, batman beyond was pretty cool so if they could capture that then it could work
could also help clean up a bit of the mess they have with so many different universes, jump forward in time a bit

The last Justice League movie had two directors, Synder and Josh Wheddon (First two Avengers films over at Marvel). The studio butchered that film and re-shot a lot of stuff and pretty much ruined it.
There has been a campaign to get the original director back and finish his version of the movie. That's going to happen on HBO Max as series of one hour episodes (some of this is delving into rumour territory again). I think it's a four hour version, it might six not sure.
It makes Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, and Justice League into a trilogy of sorts and the tone/story will be consistent across them all. That's a good thing if you like those films (which I do).
So the comics have this concept of the multiverse, where there are multiple version of Earth and these heros. So you have Batman on Earth-2 that's slightly different to the main version (Adam West Batman is Earth-66, and Keaton's is Earth-89).
There is a new Flash film coming up that is supposed to be doing the Flashpoint storyline from the comics. In that, Flash is able to cross over into the multiverse so you see these different version of the characters (A favourite Thomas Wayne becoming Batman after seeing his son Bruce gunned down in Crime Alley. His wife, Martha, goes mad and becomes the Joker in that version).
Somehow, this is going to allow them to use Keaton's Batman as a consistent thread across multiple movies, similar to how Marvel use Nick Fury. Don't know how that's going to work.
The clever/funny thing is this means all the Joker, Batman, Superman movies that have been made so far will now all be linked in DC Extended Universe. It also lets them re-boot what they have done so far and retain story elements they want to keep (Wonder Woman and Aquaman).
Fun comic book movie nerdage.

Yeah, but Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne mentoring Batgirl is such a big change it may no longer be in the future too.
Multiverse lets them have their cake and eat it too with all the different versions.

i dont think mentoring a female "the bat" would change that much
my problem with the multiverse on screen is that fans generally read the comics and understood what they were getting into, stories aren't inherently connected etc, the films have a much bigger casual fan base and i think it get confusing for them, tv series seems to have got it right...not so much the movies,,,the movies just seem like lots of reboots

This is very helpful!! I get all of that and I can't wait.
I love these types of movies and haven't hated any of them so far. I liked Affleck as Batman too.
Has the Robert Patterson as Batman rumour been put to bed?
-
The DC universe has been a total mess.
Pretty much did everything Marvel did well and did the opposite of it.Not sure they have had the right choice of directors too.
Zac Snyder is one of those all flash cgi over story type of guy.
Have always been a Batman fan, but they haven’t done him right since the Dark Knight trilogy. -

It's super confusing, so I'm interested to see how they are going to handle it. The focus recently has been on standalone stories, and they seem pretty popular.
I have to wonder how many times they can reboot Batman before people lose interest.
And of course Warner Bros have signed JJ Abrams to a huge producing deal, and the rumour is they want him to to Superman, and there are mumorings he wants to recast. Which would suck.

The last Dark Knight movie was pretty stupid, so it's not all rosey in that trilogy either. Battfleck hands down has the best Batman fight sequence. Excuse to post/watch this again;

That was more due to Ben Affleck going off the wagon. They gave him a movie to write, direct and star in but personal problems got in the way.
And he might be back too in the Synder Cut reshoots they are doing.
Would have loved to seen what he would have done with that.

hopefully if hes happy to come back for reshoots be may have calmed down a bit...might get back on board? Battenson can be a stand alone but the main continuity stays with Batfleck...probably not
i'll just add im excited to see the snyder cut but it does just add to the fucked up ness of the DCEU, two completely different version of the same movie being out there

Same with the Joker movie though, and that's not connected to Synderverse or the new Batman. I think it can work to have completely disconnected movies, and have some connected as long as they tell mostly standalone stories.
The linked world should be a bonus, you shoudn't have to watch ten films to understand the plot.

i'll agree with this in so far as different heros etc....but as much as i liked Joker...having the Joker without batman...feels weird
kind if think that film would have bee equally good if he just wasnt the joker and it just told the story of a guy going mad, cut about five minutes of footage and not have him ask to be called joker and you'd have it

The least a true fan could do.
someone should tell marvel this, wouldn't want their EU to fail....
-
Sarcasm aside, each movie should be able to stand alone. Even the "we all come together to save the world" should be able to do so and people can then have a look at other character's.
Or don't I understand writing a script?

i think marvel proved if dont right thats not the case anymore
even if you watched all the avengers....things would not make complete sense let alone if you went straight to infinity war
