It had an unfortunate habit of the wings falling off though.
Or landing upside down.

Even trickier is the upside down take off that he attempted.
From the headline I was curious as to the "misunderstanding", which wasn't that he didn't realise that the wheels are supposed to be on the bottom. -

@taniwharugby that's impressive

It seems some guy in Nelson hoarded a barnful of planes

After 50 years of flying, Qantas' last remaining Boeing 747 passenger jet departed Australia for the final time on Wednesday and left a special message for everyone in the sky — a drawing of the airline's iconic kangaroo logo. The flight was commanded by Capt. Sharelle Quinn, the airline's first female captain.

@JC The Mosquito was a stunning aircraft. I recall from my airplane fan-boy days as a child and teen that it was quick, and well armed. What were it's drawbacks?
Anyone tried ranking their favourite WW2 aircraft on here? I've chopped and changed a little over time as I've seen footage, read books etc, but mine would be something like this:
- Typhoon
- Corsair
- Spitfire
- FW190
- Kittyhawk
- Mosquito
- Wildcat
- Beaufighter
- Mustang
- ME262

@shark always loved the Lancaster. The Lightning looked pretty cool. The Hurricane was massively important. The ME262 must have been amazing to see for the first time. I don't recall the mozzie having weaknesses. Cheap, fast, versatile

unsure if already in here...
I seriously question the decision making that went on there. Was it 480kph landing? Tyres would have burst surely (we had 190kt tyres on a 350 tonne jet) , all sorts off controllability issues on approach.
That is quite some plane to do that aerodynamically but back compression aside - just get the fuck out.

Only WW2 one I've managed to get a trip in! Couldn't really rank them, tho.

Thats awesome! Its not a particularly beautiful plane in the pure sense, but there's something about it

Maybe just the mystique. Dambusters and all that

As a kid it was definitely the Corsair, then I went to Sea Fury when I saw one at Hood early teens (tho it didn't see service). But being a fighter type, and spending time with and around the BoB Memorial Flight I've gone to spitfire, I reckon.
