Poll shows people in the UK believe 6-7% of the population have died from Coronavirus - that's between 4.2m and 4.9m people. Key Finding 4 on page 6
WTF?

Good work Dominic.
I guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks.

@Victor-Meldrew There’s a part of me that longs for pre internet days when I would never have been informed of such bollocks, but that would also mean no fern and therefore more work. It’s a trade off I guess.

Only on the Fern could a deeply thought out and discussed topic on the sociological impacts of Stop and Search on black people's perception of the UK justice system become elevated to an educational article on Mercedes A Class trim levels.

If not him, then whom?
Mainstream media?
The Interweb?

The mainstream media probably. More interested in making up stuff, engaging in "gotcha" journalism or pushing a political viewpoint rather than providing even basic facts and analysis for Joe Public to chew over.
One example. The UK has one of the lowest infection rates in Europe but one of the highest death rates from Covid-19. Yet the NHS had a big surplus of beds, ventilators and staff. Where's the Panorama program, The Times investigation or Guardian "exclusive" on that?

@pakman Read that a day or so ago. It's more about vaccine development IIRC.
Here's a mainstream UK media piece on the UK's vaccine efforts...
"I Teach At Oxford, But I Don’t Want It To Win The Coronavirus Vaccine Race
The story will be clear: China, once again, has unleashed a threat to civilisation. But the best brains of the UK have saved the world" -

The Huffington Post is not mainstream media in the UK.

Did anybody read the bottom before looking at this piece of toilet paper? Here it is:
Dr Emily Cousens researches vulnerability and gender at Oxford Brookes university and teaches on the women’s studies masters course at University of Oxford.
It's not a take. It's woke-trash piece of shit. The woman (if she is that, probably part of the men-in-woman-toilets brigade) would rather more died needlessly than a vaccine was created due to her (assumed) political allegiance and criticism of the UK government.

I always hate opinion pieces written by people who have no expertise in the field that they are writing about

I was being polite.
Her main gig is in Oxford Poly.

Oxford Brookes/Poly actually ranks highly in areas like engineering & IT in the University rankings. The fact they spend money on people like Emily Cousens when the UK is so short of engineers and IT people says it all really.
But as someone who started out as an engineer, I'm probably old and unaware of modern life and people's feelings....

Well, at least there's something to admire about you! You can take the man out of OU...

I've still got most of my marbles rolling around my swede but I can't fathom the events over the past 48 hrs?
Can someone please explain why England is heading back to Lockdown?
We're not fully out here in Wales.
