@mariner4life had another Bent Spoke at a mate's place in Canboring. Tidy.

The Marty brewery is a good spot.
Some top beers there. Nice place marty - the weather was absolutely perfect.
Was a nice wee sesh that one. Heading over there to do some vineyards in a month or two.
Fun fact. You can get done for drunk driving if you are over the limit on one of those rental bikes. Niggly.

I came through the 'Naki on my move to Wgtn... and was gutted that Mike's had moved out of their old rural spot.
You and me both. Discovered it while I was flying solo over there in 2017 and it was a top spot.
@NTA that photo looks rural. Assuming that was before they moved ?
Other half booked us somewhere else in the naki for dinner but I might grab a feed there next trip which will be in a few weeks.

Yep - this was at the location out of town. Was a mint day for a beer.
And where I bought these little beauties that we had at your parent's joint in the Rapa.

I’ve only been to the one in New Plymouth and whilst it’s not without its charms the old one looks sensational. What a shame.
Yeah those were good as I recall, Mikes is the first NZ craft brewery as I found out recently.

Yep, and a damn good brewery at that. Others may claim some (Galbraiths, Macs, Monteiths), but Mike's was outstanding for a really long time. Good for them.
Also, check out how many good beers are brewed at Steam in Aucaklnd! Bach, Epic, etc ... really good brewers there.

for those on this side of the ditch, i finally found something decent that comes fro Canberra, this bad boy
Plenty of flavour, but still dangerously sessionable at that 5.7% mark. A real golden colour to it, hops but not overwhelmingly so. Can recommend. Will smash.
Sorry, have I been keeping that a secret? The brewpub is just up the road from work.

Off to Shield Snorters this weekend, was due to be watching the other half do her marathon which has been cancelled for obvious reasons....we figured we’d go away anyway so any brewery suggestions will be gratefully received.
Breweries - Godsown, out of town a bit, but a fucking lovely spot in decent weather. It was closed over winter, but should be open again now, as I found out when I stopped in for a nice beer, finding it closed, but the nice man poured me a brew anyway.
Brave - their Tigermilk is a damn nice IPA.
Giant, out in Havelock North - decent, but "safe".
Zeelandt - I've always found their stuff a bit bland, but that's probably as I've gone the cliche route of "hoppy pilsner - fuck yeah!", "oh shit - hoppy-as-fuck IPA, that's awesome", "Wow! Hazy shit - my new favourite"But - more importantly - HB surprisingly has a damn fine craft beer pub or two. Or rather, now... 3.
Westshore Beach Inn - fucking spectacular range of beer in a rather odd setting (thai food, craft beer, cheap accommodation, pokies, sports-bar, fuck-it... let's throw in a garden bar)
The Common Room in Hastings - strangely excellent bar in... fucking Hastings. WTF?
And, the Westshore, has just opened a more "central city" bar in Napier... the Rogue Hop, I think? -

@Kruse https://roguehop.bar/ Went to it in July - several times. Small but bloody good. Got chatting to the guy in charge. They were due to open the Thursday of the week we went into Lvl 4 so I felt duty bound to support them.
Didn't realise there was a tie in with the WestShore
