On quarantine I have gone from being a dad that plays Call of Duty badly to having an average of 40 kills per round on team deathmatch. I am now better than my son and he hates it. My daughter is only marginally better and than me now. But shes plays all day every day while shes off work and studies.
Great thread. How have I missed this ?
After getting routinely arse raped by both sons at Star Wars Battlefront 2 ( to the point where I’m more embarrassed at myself than proud of them ) it was really cool to get Call of Duty as a bit of a change of pace and see them a bit humbled by not being Jedi or Sith and getting fucked up every time they charged at the enemy. Telling them to be patient, tactical and sneaky as opposed to gung ho was extremely satisfying.
Of course now they’re better than me ( and this pisses me off cos I was quite the spacies guru back in the day ) but I still feel I taught them some things.

@MN5 I am still killing it on multiplayer but I absolutely suck at warzone. I have had a few lucky games, even winning a couple. But I usually die in the first 5min, go to the gulag win back in and then hide out until the end. The best I’ve done is 5 kills In warzone. My daughters boyfriend annihilates everyone. It’s great to watch and demotivating at the same time.

@Machpants It looks pretty impressive! The QMS feature of HDMI 2.1 will be handy.

Also I am SO getting a GTX3080...
...if I can!
good luck waiting - I'm on the lookout for a stockist too as my current rig is getting long in the tooth (i9 7920X, 64G DDR4,
2 x GTX 1080 Ti) -

That card is a beast. Finally had a chance to use it on a good monitor
Far Cry 5 ultra settings at 4k was consistently getting ~100 frames (rare low of 84 and as high as 117). Dropping to 1440p and it was always above 170 and never got near 144

is there another Video games thread? or just not talked about on here?
not some big epic game but i have been having some fun in the switch online store
just played "Unravel" and for AU$9 it was a lot of fun,
downloaded another game the other night on 60% off ($8) so even if i only get a couple of hours fun out of it then all good

@Kiwiwomble I think there's a thread called something like "Gaming / VR" - which kinda became the de-facto nerd-game thread.
Machinarium - I think I got that as part of some Humble-Bundle some time ago - gave up on it a couple of times... finally "clocked" it during lockdown. With the aid of heaps of cheating.

@Kruse @Machpants finished it, definitely some puzzles i needed assistance.
one of the puzzles i had to look up, found several videos showing the solution....but none actually explained how to work it out other than trial and error, another couple required repeating the same action 3-5 times and then something would happen, wouldn't have worked that out as there didn't seem to be anything encouraging you to keep repeating it, i got to the Band without having to look anything up
