    if Ardie pulls out.

If he had done that in the first place he could be on the bench and his wife wouldn't have to have induced labour this weekend for Hoskins to start.

I just don't get all the spiteful remarks on this site. There are so many sound arguments overlooked.

With Beauden and Mo'unga both having injury niggles earlier this week, the backs bench makes sense. With so many potentially fatal errors by our less experienced players in the hectic last few minutes last week it also makes good sense to have Scott Barrett on the bench to finish. Likewise pairing Nepo and Taylor with debutant Hodgman for a closing front row. Big Karl did not quite look the part for a high-pace finale last week. I think they have thought hard about the 15 they want at the start and the end of the match, to provide decent options.

    Care to explain 12. Goodhue, 13. Leinert-Brown?

I'm thinking that in the absence of Whitelock, Savea was always going to play at no.8 to provide more experience to the loose forwards. You've already got a rookie lock starting and Frizell isn't exactly experienced either (10 tests). Maybe Sotutu ends up starting anyway if Ardie pulls out.

which is fucking dumb considering the wallabie pack that rolled us last week had barely started shaving

exactly! look at the little fat kid with his first beard

also i don't know who that is

Harry Wilson. This kid is going to be a very good player once he starts shaving. Made the Crusaders forwards look silly earlier this year.

It's ok guys, it's all part of the coaching succession plan.

They're just getting McLeod or Plumtree ready to sit in the big chair in 4 years time....

look, i've never understood those people who use social media to send evil hateful shit to people in the public sphere

but a post like this makes me tilt my head to the side and say "hmmmmm"

    🤨

Unsure if that’s a dig at me or not...

I don’t think my post was in any way evil or hateful... More stating a fact while highlighting a bit of an issue.

But seriously if this is what succession looks like... hmmm

Wow! From the highs of ASR to an AB team that will surprise me if they win against a rookie Wob team rebuilding from scratch. If the AB team were rebuilding and going in a new direction, it would be OK but ......
Anyway, the tight five looks very vulnerable and at the very least that pack doesn't look like the one that will get us over the gain line which is one of the prerequisites of having dual playmakers in the backs I would have thought.
I think I need another holier-than-thou lecture from Foxy telling me I have to lower my expectations.

Relax, guys. Our blokes' best chance is at Suncorp and then perhaps still having a shot in the dead rubber in Sydney.

ABs by two tries at Eden Park, cementing Foster in place for years to come.

I am less concerned with the personnel than I am with how we are playing.

Usually we are the front runners with innovation and adapting, yet we have been stale for the past 2-3 years.

We failed to adapt to the rush defence, which we were exposed to in the Lions tour, the rest of the world saw us struggle, so they all adapted as a way to put us under pressure.

The rest of the world has caught us, and our tactics and game plans are being exposed, while we have a team of very good players, we are lacking any generational ones like we had with DC, McCaw, Nonu, SMith...Cane is still learning the ropes as a leader at this level while bedding in whatever new ideas The Brewers are trying to instill.

@nzzp maybe they want more physicality closer to the playmakers, and more dexterity in the wider channels. And maybe they will switch around a bit to make the Aussies think harder about defensive patterns too. Toomua is a hard hitter, and Paisami is quite inexperienced. So, you might want to test him....

I just got the job as NZRU mail "boy" (I use that term loosely) and fully expect to be AB coach within a few years. Applications for assistants are welcome.

The current innovators are sitting in the Wallaby coaches box and break dancing after Super Rugby titles!.

Funny how some spoke of Gatland coming in after Fozzie!

@taniwharugby except we overcame the rush defence in lions 1, using 9 a lot, and smashed them. Tbh we only just lost 2 with a red card, and were on the way to smacking them in 3 if savea didn't have tits for hands.

But yes our innovation, dry powder, had been proved ineffective, but foster is still sniffing the same stuff

    @taniwharugby agreed

and i understand the whole, "we can explain what we're doing" idea, dont want the opposition to know all our secrets....but its not exactly engaging is it, and its a little concerning if our big ideas rely so much on surprise

i'd be much happier if we had a game plan we were happy to just tell the world "this is what we'd doing...come and stop us"

@Machpants and then after the Lions we forgot how to deal with it.

Crotty was a key part of our side then too, he got injured in one game when we looked like running riot?

aaahhh we're doing the same shit we have been doing for 2 years. Even a thick coach like, say, Ian Foster, has probably worked it out by now.
