Already seeing chat about the "McConnell/Biden partnership".
You reckon the GOP think they've lost and are maybe glad to be rid of Trump? What do you think we could expect from this? There will be certain things completely off the table in the name of partisanship but I reckon there is some common ground coming out of COVID they could look at.
Lot of horse trading to do.
From looking at our own parliament, the guys who have been sitting there for long periods on either side develop those kinds of relationships.

Who are these Americans that you think need closure from the courts? Do you think Trump will accept with grace any verdict that doesn't go his way? Will his most rabid supporters?
So far I have seen a great many more moderate GoP members call Trumps baseless accusations a disgrace than I have call for an investigation.
Again, I'm totally fine with investigating and punishing any wrongdoing. But I've yet to seen anything that makes me think they have anything substantial to go on.
Nearly all of them who haven't raised the attention of social media or the fern. Millions of them regardless of their vote this week.
Certainly more than you or I have seen
Can't speak for what Trump will do
Sure, I don't profess to know all the Americans in the world. But it seems telling that not many of their GOP representatives are backing Trumps actions.
And I just haven't seen the smoking gun here.

Budget cuts that maintain military expenditure, plus some kind of Libya style disastrous intervention.
Ah, the good old days.

@Winger who has touted him as fbi head?
She (although). Its Michael Flynn's attorney. Various sites were saying she will replace Chris Wray

She, apologies, which sites? Bipartisan by any chance?

Nice speech from Biden, didn't declare victory but said it was looking good, and very much an offer of bipartisan government. Also noted that he, Senator Harris and his advisors had been contacting experts to start working on plans for Covid and the economic recovery.
Looks like the Senate is 50-48 to the Republicans with both Georgia senate races going to a runoff, so still in play but probably going to remain Republican.

Ohh that’s what a classy statesman like speech sounds like.
Trump has been gagged today from reports but after that I bet he’ll be hard to keep quiet

so whats with the whole not declaring/claiming victory?
I saw a headline earlier claiming Trump had warned Biden against claiming victory.
-
@taniwharugby still too close to call with absolute certainty I’d guess
-
@Kiwiwomble but is it a big deal?
Wasnt Trump claiming it earlier in the week?
Seems premature for anyone to claim it
-
@taniwharugby Waiting for networks or AP I think, but agree that's it still possible for it to go either way. Main reason to wait is credibility - much easier to get somewhere with the formation of government (preparing transition plans with the public service and legislature, arranging cabinet selections etc.) when people believe you have won, and that belief is a lot more likely when it's reported by multiple independent sources i.e. not the campaign itself.
Trump declared himself the winner early on, but one surmises from the tenor of his more recent communication that he has at least worked out that it's not a guarantee...
-
@taniwharugby he doesn’t want to take a leaf out of trumps playbook, can’t blame him
-
@Kiwiwomble was more meaning that Trump supposedly warned him not to, despite the fact he had already...but then not alot surprises when it comes to Trump does it!
-
Heavily armed Trumpers surrounding a vote counting centre?
That’s the type of stuff the US used to see elsewhere in the world and intervene as the western world police.
Winding up distrust of officials and putting them in situations like that is indefensible.
Boggles the mind that some still make excuses for this idiot. He proves every day why he is unfit for office. -
I think AP and Fox have both called Arizona for Biden, so it shouldn't long before others (e.g., NY Times) join in.
With PA to be called soon (I'd say) and the margin possibly going over .5% (although there will still be a recount), there will be a lot of pressure on Trump, not that I think he'll care.
Amazingly, it looks like it will be 306 to 229 so there would be too many court battles to win, shirley?

Unless there is lots of fraud (or errors etc) as Trump claims
