Nearly 874,000 COVID-19 vaccinations registered in the UK yesterday. An incredible effort.
And I was one of them. It certainly is a well oiled machine. I was onsite no more than 3 min at my local vaccination hub.
So how far down this fucking table do we need to go?
Easter.
I meant 'Let out, to stay out' not the 'hokey cokey'
The real answer in terms of UK domestically IS Easter.
But Boris pandering to SAGE so May 17 will hold.Overseas travel depends muchly on how Europeans and others get their **** together.
So to put it another way, do you think that when a critical number of people have been vaccinated we can just go about our lives domestically?
In my mind once the over 50s are done, domestic restrictions ought to be minimal.
Yep that's my thought process too, especially when you see the numbers in that table.
Unfortunately the rumblings are that we're going to return to the previous lockdown cycles throughout the coming year
I don't read it that way.
I think BJ is going for [extra long] lockdown in time saves nine.
So I do expect masks on public transport to stay with us. And potentially some social distancing/table service restrictions if there's a blip.
Key metric is hospital ICUs.
But with over 50s and vulnerable (fat) vaccinated, that metric ought to stay low.
AND NO MORE LOCKDOWNS.

Oh yes.

@pakman The key has always been the hospital admissions and ICU in particular. I actually think that it was realised fairly early on that the disease could be contained rather than eradicated and had to be managed until a containment programme was with us.

@pakman yes. The wife had Pfizer about 4 weeks ago but it all seems to be AZ around here at the moment. No side effects at all.
Some hubs locally are ahead of the country curve and are vaccinating general public under 40.
The Pfizer one, which I got given, requires a 15 minute wait afterwards to ensure no rapid allergic redaction.
Bloody well done!

Mrs M and her sisters have had the AZ jab and all were laid low for a couple of days. I just had a sore arm for a day or two so maybe it's genetic?

Think the 15 minute wait is standard - Mrs M was asked to wait in her car when she had the AZ jab.

I was told the 10-15 min post-jab wait was standard too; for those that drove. I walked the short distance to the hub so was allowed to leave immediately.
-
Is this a necessary evil or just plain evil?
Restrictions on leaving the United Kingdom

The 15 minute wait for AZ is only required if driving. For Pfizer it applies irrespective.

Really good article from the Spectator (again). GB does have a great opportunity here

@majorrage That hits every nail squarely. Be the bigger person (well, nation really). Plus send a positive message to business.
I wonder what Farage’s view is?

Boris used to edit the spectator didn’t he? So he’s likely to read this

The EU have achieved the impossible: They've made Boris look like a world-beating leader and proved Farage's view of the EU to be almost 100% accurate.

@sparky The politicising of this shit show has been shocking.
The temptation has been way too great for the intellectual pipsqueaks who pose as political leaders, hasn't it?

Former Supreme Court judge Jonathan Sumption tells Andrew Neil that Britain should have followed its pandemic planning before locking down. He also says that the home secretary and police have too much power in the new policing bill.

Under 30s won't be given the AZ vacc in the UK now, I must admit this has put me off having my second vaccine, I'm only 5 years out of that age group and I was only vaccinated due to working in NHS so I'm seriously considering not having the second vaccine.
I know the chances of clot are rare but this has sent me into a right tizzy!
-
@r-l
Apparently....There's a 3-in-10 million chance of a blood-clot from the AZ vaccine.
There's a 3-in-10 thousand chance of a serious blood clot from taking the contraceptive pill
There's a 1-in-500 thousand chance of being hit by lightning.
There's a 1-in-3.7 million chance of being killed by a shark.
So don't take the second jab if you are on the Pill and swim in shark-infested waters during a thunderstorm....
