Ryan Wheeler I'm surprised at
IIRC Ross Cooper didn't select him so Wheeler went over to Sydney, with tragic consequences.
Yep, I looked up his story last night after seeing his name. In hindsight, I wonder how much of a role the "bad concussion" played, given what's emerged over the last ten years in sports/brain science. Rugby fraternity shocked by player's suicide

@shark 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15 all played for Ta$man at some point, but I don't recall Smith or Pelenise being mainstays (I think Smith might have been an Aucklander).
Someone probably missed a trick not picking up Zac Taulafo - he became a test prop for Samoa and played several seasons for Wasps in England. Google tells me he also did 5 years at Stade Francais - more than 160 appearances between Wasps and SF.
Aaron Kimura might have gone OK, but lacked a yard of pace.
Not sure many of the other Ta$man players were particularly hard done by - Mark Bright had his moments and played Sevens for England.

His (Francis Smith) uncle, of sorts, is my flatmate. I will suss out details when I get up there tonight. All I know is that he is now based back in the Cook Islands. Flatmate does have another nephew if the Crusaders environment too but I forget his name, will just have to use the standard "kia orana bro" when I meet him!!!!!
