Just booked both my vaccination appointments online. That was surprisingly easy, and only have to wait 11 days until my first jab.
Mine is scheduled for mid-September, so I guess it depends on where you live. Quite a difference.

@crucial yeah I think the original plan, which they claimed could have everyone vaccinated by end of the year was based around a massive ramping up now into spring?
I got a haircut yesterday, and the hairdresser was telling me she has had her notification to get vaccinated, as hairdressers/barbers are classified as an occupation who need vaccination.

Didn't know that there was a regional variance.
My father only got jabbed Tuesday and he's 86. Had most of the listed side effects for a night, but he is a hypochondriac so if they told him that one of his ears might fall off then it would have as far as he is concerned.
I'll be lucky if I get a shot before the end of the year. Was a "no" to everything. Thought that I might try "smartass personality disorder" as a pre existing condition but that didn't seem to be there.

I'm in Group 3, along side about 1 million other people (according to the website). So am not suprised this is going to take so long.

@snowy heaps of variance depending on DHB I believe.
It's one thing that they aren't communicating well. I guess the govt is more concerned with the overall numbers but, of course, that means they are also telling people generalisations on the roll out of vax.
Each DHB will have it's own plan based on the overall but adjusted as their demographics may not be the same. -
I'd really just like to get it out of the way and get on with life, but heaps of people need it more and could be at risk, so it's understandable how they are doing it.
@Crucial Yeah some DHB will have disproportionate amounts of old folk, at risk, etc, so it does make sense.

@majorrage sorry Bro. You should, at most, have to take a test to confirm your negative so you can return and see your Dad without the nonsense of quarantine. It is just not right and I don’t agree with the Covid response, especially NZ’s. My Dad passed last December and the only way to see him was to drive to Chicago form Cali due to travel restrictions. Seeing him and being there for my family was more important than restrictions.

They are opening up to Group 4 next week.
Govt got a heap of shit for this over the last couple of days because so few Group 3 have been vaccinated yet.
Cue announcement that they've set up a brand new special 0800 number that people in Group 3 can ring if they haven't already been contacted already...
.... umm so that would be the exact same 0800 I rang six weeks ago?

Question.
As someone living outside NZ, where is the official website giving NZ's up-to-date quarantine rules/restrictions on incoming travelers?I don't want to rely on the Fern, or God Help me, Stuff.
There is a government covid19 site. Might be a good start

according to the Covid page, I can get vaccinated from the 28th, which is basically the 1st day anyone can get it, I was gonna sit back and wait until more of the country had been done (ie I am low risk) but I might look to get it done when I can.
What is surprising, is Mrs TR does some work at a retirement village, run by the largest provider in NZ, but she hasnt been asked to have it done, but when i click through the Covid page, she would be in group 2.

You're younger than me but we would fall into the same group I think (I'm low risk as well) but I'm looking end of the year.
Maybe that is the regional thing again?
-
@taniwharugby Yeah I just want it done too.
