Lockdown/Covid Check In

@no-quarter yeah most people I know that have had both were hit by one or the other (nothing on 1st, but some type of symptom 2nd one, or symptom 1st one and nothing 2nd one)
I have my 2nd in a few weeks, had a bit of an ache in my shoulder for #1 for about 24 hours after like I do when i get my tetnus

Pretty shit few days. A work friend of 18 years + just passed away today. First up we only heard about her stage 4 cancer situation late this week. Unsurprising she kept it so private as that was how she rolled 100%. I'd been hoping to see her yesterday but it wasn't possible, then today she passes away. Fuck cancer.
Covid gets yet another fuck you as well. She's got a biiiig family so it's unlikely many of us from mahi will be able to attend her funeral. For extra onion cutting I was texting her less than 24hrs ago and we did get the chance to share some aroha. -
@paekakboyz yeah, COVID strikes again in another surprising way, sorry to hear that Mate

Had assumed my soccer season would just have finished with the lockdown, we only had 1 game to go, but surprisingly we played the final round this weekend in L2. Glorious sunny spring day, unexpected bonus.
We lost 0-8. Felt like the first game of the season.
Fuck covid.

My 8 year old had his first season of soccer this year, the first sport he's actually wanted to play and he loved it. He's pretty gutted to miss the 2nd half of the season due to lockdown.
On his Zoom call yesterday when everyone was saying bye at the end he said "I hate lockdown" and left. He's generally a super positive kid, and still is most of the time, but I've noticed in this latest lockdown he's been more up and down (this is now unrelated to your soccer post, other than to agree, fuck Covid and fuck lockdowns).

@paekakboyz That's crap mate, really sorry to hear. Unfortunately very similar to a situation we have been very close to here. Friends friend, diagnosed last October, gone on Thursday. If caught 6 months earlier, likely live full life. Absolutely gutting, our friends our completely shattered.
Keep well fella.

I'm signing out of the fern, for a while at least.
Will check in and see how you are all doing but not post.
I'm so grumpy and shitty that it is unlikely that I will have anything of value to say. Irritable at best. My sense of humour has gone (if you thought that I had one).
So if one of you pisses me off it is going to be a verbal punch in the face and I don't want to do that. I've known some of you for over 20 years.
It seems my tolerance for lockdowns was four weeks. My tolerance for taking shit from other people is now zero @Bones . Best that I don't spread that around.
Not a dummy spit, just that I am a shit at the moment and realise it.
Maybe see y'all later.

Remember most of us have pretty thick skin, so the bar for causing offense is pretty high

What the other Polish shelias said @Snowy, take care bro!

@snowy Kia Kaha mate.
Where the southern border is, is pissing me off. My mum, in Tuakau which is near Pukekohe, got an insect bite, probably from a white tail spider and it has gotten infected. She has to go to the local doctor daily for treatment. If it got bad enough she had to go to Hospital she would end up at Middlemore and my understanding is that no one could go with her. She is late sixties and her heart and blood pressure are what I am worried about. If I had to I would seriously consider sneaking across the border going through the back roads in the Wop Wops. Each time Auckland is a different level they keep changing the border. I was looking forward to seeing my mum just before the nationwide lockdown too because I had just broken up with my girlfriend of two years, and was lookin forward to chilling at mums house and watching rugby.
I get to play a couple more prezzy rugby games so I have that to look forward to and I have the NBA 2K22 coming my way by courier.

@snowy what everyone else said. Sorry you feel the need for a sabbatical, I guess your cellar is getting full. Probably best one of us doesn't end up there.
Hope things look less GOM soon. There's always a positive to every situation. Hill St must be much easier to negotiate at the moment.
Joking aside - we are a community and we are all there for you if needed.
