Coronavirus - New Zealand

I took my son for his second shot, here in Hamilton. He was booked to go yesterday but his mum was busy so we decided I would take him to one of the events today. We went to the one at Beetham Park near the stadium, it is being run by one of the Pasifika organisations. It was worth going today, we got a pack of Mama's donuts and a spot prize of a $100 prezzy card.

@godder have been protests about too, one up here had about 1500...bet half the people didn't know the group organising it is linked to the Pastor of Muppets
I hope any attempts at plausible deniability fail in court.

Did I read a while back that he was in ill health? If so he is at significant risk if he is telling the truth and is unvaccinated

Reading some of the comments on FB, it got me thinking.
How often do we hear news stories about some new experimental drug for Breast Cancer or some other serious disease, they want Medsafe/Pharmac to give it approval under urgency as it has shown good results over seas.
Yet here people are claiming Pfizer is still in its early stages with data still coming in, yet with billions of doses worldwide, the data for it is much more comprehensive than some of these other medicines people want approved while still in trial stage....
-
120k vaccination today so far, about 1/3 are 1st jabs.
-
@taniwharugby Big difference between someone on there last legs or with a life threatening illness who are willing to take risks.
For people with a 1/250000 chance of dying you can respect their questioning of why.
I am full against mandatory vaccination. and the use of passports. Hopefully once the covid wave comes through we wil move along with life normally.

Just optics right? The cancer drug is a miracle cure whereas the vaxx is a blatant money making scheme to combat a hoax disease 🤦🤷. Reminds me of a quite serious Christian mate in my science class at school who used to tie himself in knots over reconciling carbon dating of the earth and the biblical age of the earth

There is real pain being caused for people in all sorts of positions by covid19. If the price of choosing not to vaxx is being denied access to a variety of activities such as workplaces, restaurants, bars, concerts and air travel, in order for businesses to open again, for hospitals to be able to start concentrating on treating the long waiting lists of patients with other medical problems that are being delayed by covid19, so be it IMHO. At least until herd immunity is achieved. Otherwise we are being held to ransom by the few as long as it is deemed necessary to combat outbreaks with lockdowns

@crucial you love to defend shit for the sake of it don't you?
Go back to my first post on it and what I said and tell me why what I said was wrong.
The one where you said 'pretty poor'?
I haven't defended anything.
It just seemed an out of place issue to raise as if you were complaining with no context. If that is what has served the area well up to now in the overall system then what is 'pretty poor'. That's all I was asking.
IF it was a problem pre-covid then fair enough, which is why I asked the question.Of course it was a problem pre-Covid.
Anybody with half a brain cell could see that.

@canefan We're being held ransom by the rules, not by some individuals.
If you dont want covid dont go to those places because you can bet its going to go rampant regardless. stopping unvaxxed isnt helping anyone.
?

@taniwharugby apparently according to TV3 Tamaki breached his bail conditions by attending the protest today. What will the police do about it?

Sigh, if only.

Maybe they will afterwards. Cuffing him in front of a thousand anti vaxxers might have caused unnecessary disturbance
