@voodoo I don't remember the Two Rivers being populated by representatives of every race and creed either.
if a bloody non-binary blacksmith turns up, I'm switching off
I havent read the books but I did wonder about what was woke versus how the author actually portayed it. I will continue for now but am not convinced its going anywhere good either

The Great (set in late 18th century Russia) has an amazing amount of coloured people. Which I suppose is fair, Russia is known for its racial diversity.

George Washington was Maori - according to the Sydney production of Hamilton.

@roninwc I'm the opposite.
Invasion, Foundation and now Wheel of Time complete a trifecta of underwhelming shows that fail to deliver for me.I have persevered with Invasion, but the best thing about it IMO is the opening credits. Still waiting for it to get going. Zero empathy for any of the main characters
I gave up on Foundation. Glaciers move faster.
Only three episodes into WoT but I find it annoying. The CGI is really poor and I'm pretty sure Jordan never intended it to be so fucking woke. I keep falling asleep during it so hardly gripping me.
I wondered about the wokeness also, the feminist stuff is quite jarring from the start. Did I forget that from the books (I know there is an element of it, braid-tugging and woolly headedness etc) , or does the show go further?
Dude the books are really on top at feminist power and stupidity of men. However the Dragon Reborn can only be a man in the books, unlike the series. It is a pretty key point about Saidar/Saidin magic

I didn't mind it although it did remind me of Raised By Wolves which was a show that started good and then got shit.

Can't believe no one else has jumped on Cowboy Bebop.
Mando x John Wick x Buddy Cop x manga
Most fun TV I've seen this year.
I'm liking it, pretty fun series, you could tell it was NZ filmed from the first episode when the "English"chick's accent kept slipping into her kiwi one before the Maori fulla turned up at the end.
I like that aside from the first episodes all the rest are around the 40-45 minutes mark, I prefer that to the constant 50-60 minutes most shows run these days.

I guess it comes down to how much people care about historical accuracy. I'm sure there'd be zero fucks given about Benedict Cumberbatch playing Malcolm X.

@nepia I had watched several series of the UK one when I was there, but not all.
I started the US one, watched a handful and bailed cos they were too similar.
I hear similar attitude for The Office?
Basically either or?
Watching From Russia to Iran: Crossing Wild Frontier.
Excellent series as the host Levison Wood zig zags on foot from the Russian side of the Cacusus mountains, through the various countries on his way to Iran.
What you watch Russia to Iran on? Have enjoyed all those series.

Oh shit

I don't know whether The Pharmacist has been mentioned (I assume so, I barely keep up with this thread), but if you haven't seen it, watch it [Netflix].
May have a peek.
me and Mrs Dan54 have just started watching Yellowstone as everyone has been raving it. I must admit we only into halway through first series, it's ok, but can't shake the feeling that they have just used the plot for Dallas from the 80s and tweaked it to another setting. I will watch a bit more, but have to admit I not a great tv watcher anyway, except for rugby, I not into much on the box. -

Good riddance to short-arsed Tom Cruise. How the hell he ever thought he could pull off Jack Reacher is beyond me.
This dude looks just how Jack Reacher should look!
Yeah - that looks pretty well-done... the casting, and just the general "feel" of it - looks to match the source material pretty well.
Stupid but fun. Empty TV action calories. -

I'd like to recommend a series called Rectify - which is a few years old but not well very known. The 4th Season has the highest user score of all time on Metacritic.
Here's a good scene.

Yeah but he’d still be ok for functional power moves.
That reminds me I need to update my fitness thread.
