Ok so 3.5 Q’s out of 5 M’s for No time to Die. Good story line, acting not quite there in places. But plenty of Bond humour and obviously action a plenty.
Not going to say too much about the movie so as to avoid spoilers but worth a look if you are a Bond fan like me from way back.
OK one spoiler Ana de Armas is a babe and there are even rumours she may even get her own Bond spin-off which would be cool.
And I think I may have a theory on the next Bond actor.
Am 1/3 in (family stuff got in the way) and not that impressed. came across as tired and formulaic. Still fun to watch but lacks the edge of Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace. Trying too hard to be clever and, in parts, woke.
Next Bond? I'd go for Idris Elba. Has the right mix of menace, cool, screen presence and is just so British.
Idris Elba would be a great Bond. I'd probably go and watch one at the cinema if he was the next Bond.

Seagal ALWAYS mistakes being a bully, with being a badass.
That is 100% the Seagal touch.
So, 5 out of 5?
.....
Fuck it... Yeah. 5 unintelligible Jah-mah-cans out of 5 sweet-bowls-of-crack-which-I-wish-I-had. -

Bond is white. Can’t have a black dude playing him. Plus he’s well known and too old now too.

I don't know if I care that much, but I reckon Bond is a codename rather than a specific person.
If he can morph from being Scottish to English, and dark haired to blond, I am sure he can be whatever race the director wants.

I’m a traditionalist. He was written as a white guy, that’s who the character is.
Not particularly PC or woke perhaps but that’s what I feel. Some formulas shouldn’t be messed with I don’t reckon. If they want to do spin offs with other leads they can fill their boots and every black/disabled/lesbian/midget can have a crack at defeating Spectre and saving the world but I hope they leave James Bond as he is.
-
I have mixed feelings, I kind of feel we should be able to create original non white male characters rather than co opting these exiting characters…but I’m also not worried and I’ve never considered any of the bond story to be ABOUT him being white…so I think they can still tell the same kinds of stories with a black actor
I’d be more worried if they made him something other than a spy…as that’s actually what they stories are about
For the next bond I would like something different, we have loads of middle age white bloke movies for people to watch if they want, that’s doesn’t mean I necessarily want a black actor…but maybe a genuinely young one, maybe a rookie cop that gets wrapping up in something bigger, a genuine origin story, actually learning…or old man bond being hunted down in his retirement

I tend to agree - it's Bond's character that's important. which is why I thought Elba would be bloody great, but as @MN5 has pointed out, at 50, he's too old.

It's not PC because it's racist mate. Character is not colour. If someone non-white can act the character well, then what's the problem? I'd far prefer a black Bond than one that doesn't drink and womanise.

I half agree. If writing a TV series or movie a character doesn't need racially defining characteristics, then anyone can play the part and should be provided the opportunity.
But for existing characters or historical accuracy I can not see why people are so keen to have the characters and events reinvented. Just make up a new story. One where you aren't constrained by its past. Just like the idiotic complaints there weren't enough actors of colour and women in Dunkirk. Why not have fire breathing unicorns and the Allies attack from the beach and secure Arnhem while they're at it?
More broadly I don't get why we listen to people that don't like something and want it changed, neatly summed up by this cartoon kindly provided by @No-Quarter in the political memes thread.
It's like people who want to become members of clubs that don't want them.

Totally agree.
Heard an interview with a woke, gay actor who insisted that only gay actors should play gay characters. Fair enough.
But if you agree with that view, you must also think gay actors should be prohibited from playing straight characters - and be in favour of discrimination against actors on sexual orientation.

This. It’s acting for fucks sake. You know, where someone pretends to be someone they’re not.

If you take a close look at Mickey Mouse, you'll see he's actually played by a black mouse wearing white-face....
-
Or is he a white mouse wearing…
-
Nah - the white gloves he normally wears are the giveaway

Aren't all actors gay?
