Italy look the fitter team going into the last 20.
If either Wales or Scotland take significant injuries in the next rounds then the Italy match could be nightmare

They seem to be where Scotland were a few seasons back - competitive but buggering up opportunity after opportunity from set pieces near the tryline.

Finished 33-0. I like the look of Dombrandt at 8 and Marcus Smith at 10 for England. Jamie George, Kyle Sinkler, Maro Itoje and Henry Slade all quality players too.
Solid win today, but they look like a side who need more power up front and more pace outwide and to make far fewer mistakes if they are to match the achievements of England's 2003 team.

Malins is shaping up to be a real handful

Fuck. Just fuck.
Is that for Youngs coming on?
Yes. I know the bench is supposed to change the game and all but it would be nice if it were for the better.

I really hope Eddie plays Youngs, Manu and Daly against us

Youngs is likely. Manu less so I feel. Daly will be dependent on alternatives. Nowell if fit I’d guess.
But it’s Youngs that is killing us atm. Too much kicking. Kicking at the wrong time/circumstances and of course kicking poorly.
It’s going to be an interesting game that’s for sure. I make us slight favourites due to being at home but it’s close.

We ought to be but we seem to find ways of buggering things up all by ourselves. Some of Eddie's selections and substitutions are becoming baffling. What did we learn that we didn't't already know about Itoje at 6 and Ewels as anything but a back up? What did we learn bout Youngs coming on with 30 odd minutes to go that we didn't already know? Fuck all that's what and you can't even use the "building for the future" excuse with any of those selections. Looking at the back five options within the match day squad we had two speedy players in Curry and Simmonds and still he stuffed us full of the big heavy boys when the back line is crying out for pace.
If we can throw it away against the Scots having had the degree of possession that we did and fail to put Italy to the sword, again with a shed load of possession, then we can quite easily lose to your boys at Twickenham.

What can you possibly learn by beating Italy by 30 points for the 455th time in a row?

Exactly. This was a game for trying to cement new combinations and/or looking at different options. We know about Ewels. We know about Itoje in the back row. We know about Youngs. We know we have a plethora of big heavy mounters that can play at lock/6 and "do a job". Why keep asking the questions that we already know the slightly unsatisfactory answers for in a game we were always likely to win?

Youngs might be the least deserving player to play 100 tests since Rob Simmons
