Hurricanes vs Highlanders

@canes4life Apparently not on the Hurricanes Facebook page they’re all singing his praises it’s quite sickening.
-
LOL man Holland is dense
Where does he come up with these selections?
I can't believe Goosen can't even make the 23.
I don't think he's ever played Proctor at 12, but he is now. Why? Wtf? What about PUJ the guy who made the ABs at 12?
Iose and Flanders should be starting - that is obvious
-
@mikey07 it’s because the Hurricanes monitor their posts and don’t let a single negative comment infiltrate the perfect perception of their golden boy coach.
Jason Holland truely is a munter. So much so that when he was questioned on Rayasi’s hat trick against the Blues, he was quoted saying that he thought Rayasi only scored two tries. Does the guy even watch his team?
-
The funny thing about our coaching is that I think on attack, generally the Canes have good structure and hold the ball well. They're no where near as error prone as historical Canes teams
It's the game plans where we fall over (for example kicking the ball midfield versus Saders and trying to take them on upfront)
But far and away the worst thing about this coaching group is their selections, they are so unfathomably bad and inconsistent week on week
He'll fix one problem (put in Love) but create another (Proctor at 12) - and he does this all year
Last year IWL would play a blinder, and next week, he'd drop him
it's such a shame this squad has this muppet in charge
-
If you flick across on the post Holland explains the team selections. Apparently Peter Umaga-Jensen played really well off the bench last week but he trusts Proctor to do the job at 12. 🤦🏼♂️

Is Sangster injured? Kid has been great so better send him to the stands.
Edit: they are going to be tiny if they lose Delaney.
IIRC Prinsep went into lock last week. But your point still stands.
Howden would offer some height and size off the bench.
As to the Highlanders, I know that Brown said that both Fijian wingers were projects but Coombes-Fabling starting over either, or even Punivai (injured?), is a big surprise. I can't remember him playing on the left wing before.

Where's all the Canes fans bitching about the team nearly being correct except for 12?
12, loose forwards, wing
That's my issue, it really makes no sense. Seems if someone plays well they get dropped. -
@crucial you obviously haven't read the thread.
All of Iose, Goosen, PUJ and Flanders should be starting. Those guys along with Love, Sullivan and Ardie, are the reason we came back against the Blues, yet Holland still decides to stick with impactless players like Prinsep, Kirifi, Proctor etc.
-
I not sure about some of Cane's selections, Proctor over PUJ, I actually don't get that upset over as I still waiting to be convinced about how good PUJ is. And I actually thought Savea wasn't all that bad at 12 last week, not a keeper or anything, but he didn't really do much wrong, and probably in a couple of carries bent tha line a bit. I think Goosen desrves to still be there, but I not shouting house down over it. In forwards personally I would have Flanders over Prinsep, and I a real Iose fan, have siad so for last couple of years, but I not sure I would start him at 7 , so maybe has to be a bench player for now, He actually much like Ardies as aplayer. I take it Love will go to 15 when JB comes off, and JGB to 10?

The whole thread is us moaning about Holland and his selections.
Well some of it is, I might pick differently, but I not part of caoching staff, and surely don't claim to know more about game plan etc to say too much.
-
@canes4life he's such a muppet.
This "trusting people to do a job" crap is nonsensical
Pick the players who we know CAN do the job, or at the least, have a lot of upside (ie R Love and the young loosies)
Princep, Blackwell etc can do a job, but it's a decidedly average job which will never win a title.
Does Holland want the Canes to be average? Or does he want to try and win a comp?
His acceptance of mediocrity sucks.
such an idiot and it's a shame no one else in the Canes setup seems to care
-
@foobanz I guess the only ones that care are the likes of PUJ, Iose and Flanders who must be thinking wtf do we have to do to get a start. I will be pissed if they all decided to move at the end of the year because of this idiot.
-
@dan54 the problem I have with PUJ is they always drop him and never give him a run.
J Savea has been good. He should definitely be in the 23 but personally I wouldn't start him over PUJ at 12 or Goosen on the wing
You don't need to play Iose at 7, Ardie can play there
I was a Kirifi fan (I remember him killing Wainui in the final for Norths a few years back) but he gives away too many penalties.
I just think there are better loose forward options
Even Gibson is unlucky to make the 23 I think he was strong last week
-
@dan54 genuine question - what game plan have you observed from the Canes the first few weeks?
week 1 if the plan was to kick the ball to Jordan, and try and beat the Saders up front, they sure did follow it well. Not a very good plan though.
When they gave that away we were much more threatening
week 2 I thought the Blues controlled the ball for the most part, so didn't give us much of a chance to play with it. When we did have it, we were deadly

Not trolling just being sarcastic. Every Canes match selection results in an uproar about selection.
None of you admit that he got it right with the bench mixture last week. Maybe it was deliberate to finish the stronger team. Risky move but it paid off.
(Edit: @Winger gives him alittle credit in a fewposts time sohe's not included in this comment)

So he got it wrong for 65 mins and got it right for 15? That still sounds a lot like getting it wrong,
