Dredd was fucking good. Criminal that Urban hasn't been signed for a sequel, and a more brutal R18 one at that. So much great material and a grim and brutal world to explore. What's not to love!

Agree re Dredd, much much better than the Stallone shitfest, though my one gripe was over use of the slo-mo to signify the drug usage. Seemed like padding after a while.
As an aside and nothing whatsoever to do with the thread, Ms Cato No1 has had several stories published in 2000AD, the mag that brought Dredd to the world. Proud Dad moment.

- The Matrix is a boring, shit & pseudointellectual movie
- Squid Game was a bad & predictable TV show
- Dredd (2012) is brilliant
- Queen is an extremely overrated band
- Ace Ventura 1 & 2 are very underrated
- Cats are annoying
- Dogs are even more annoying
Matrix 1 is incredible.
Squid Game was entertaining, but the acting could be laughably bad. The camp American rich dudes were pathetic, both as a storyline and performance.
Never seen Dredd
AV 1 is great. AV2 ok only.
Cats and Dogs both great, I've never understood people who feel they have to choose one against the other (noting you're not doing that)
I agree. The white dudes were by far the worst thing about Squid Game. Diversity was not a strength in that instance.
Some absolutely horrific acting now I look back on it.

Is a hot take cool or not?
Great take
That's an unpopular opinion.

@Catogrande holy shit! that is epic bro. 2000AD has got so much potential. My best mate was a huge Strontium Dog collector and I loved ABC Warriors. Kudos to Ms Cato No1!

Waterworld has aged far, far better than Mad Max

Ah! Kevin Costner-the hubris years. See also The Postman.

Unpopular opinion: Seinfeld.
Kramer, Kramer shits me.
George and Newman had riveting machismo on a string but Jerry and Elaine were mostly just irritating.Last word sums up Seinfeld.

Mad Max was out of date when it was released.
Budgets differed a little.

Yeah, seems a weird comparison - a big budget mid 90s movie up against an almost zero budget 70s movie.

One universally lauded, the other panned to death
Waterworld is better regardless of budget
-
Oh goody. My unpopular opinion: Mad Max is a classic. Waterworld varies between existential profundity, in the moment action scenes (on/off his boat in particular) and Hollywood soap bubbles . Costner is better as the morose silent type.
Reynolds was quoted as saying that "Kevin Costner should only star in movies he directs. That way, he can work with his favorite actor and favorite director".
Josh Wheldon apparently still can't sit through some scenes even though he was flown in to rewrite the worst ones.

Tend to agree. I think if Waterworld had been released without any mention of it's budget it would have been a success.

Oh - and I was going to say I really miss Never Mind the Buzzcocks - but see they've revived it. Sweet.
So you reminded me of this, I've watched 3 episodes now of the reboot. That'll most likely be all I watch.
It's naff.
Just them laughing with each other about how whacky they are.

Damn - I've downloaded the whole lot, old and new. Haven't given it a go yet.
It sounds like the "whacky" team-up of Russell Brand and Noel Fielding on the Big-Fat-Quiz-of-the-Year - so fucking annoying. Just "look at me, look at me, look how craaazy I am!"
