The curse of the 12th Man continues, as the target of my favourite of all his albums dies. Max Walker gone at 68.

A more than decent test career is almost forgotten by the media personality, and of course the 12th Man stuff.

Yeah RIP 'Tangles', that was a pretty decent record for someone who only "supported" Lillee and Thommo ( and had a better average than the latter )

My old man always went on about how him and Lance Cairns both had such fucked up bowling actions but Hats off to them for making it work.

Geez only Lawry and Chappelli left from the glory days........

A lot of people dont realize this because he made his name in cricket ,

but he played some 80 odd games of AFL ( called VFL then ) for Melbourne ,

May have been the last to do the double (international cricket and AFL )

              Not good at all.

So it's Bill, Ian, Ian's brother Greg, and "hang on Ritchie man, I'll just go get my walkman man" left.

I would like to think that, if there is a heaven, Richie was waiting at the gates, and just as Max walked up, he turned to St Peter and said

"security, if Max Walker comes within 10 feet of this fucking door shoot him okay?"

And the 3 of them laughed and got a beer.

Or him running towards the Pearly Gates yelling out "you can pick me now Richie!"

Max Walker’s former Test captain Greg Chappell remembers an identifiable Australian hero who never took life too seriously and always lent a helping hand
