@antipodean he's a fixer. Of what I don't know...
Probably walk into a directorial position at a military contractor not that there will be many Libs left to shmooze

No definitely Peter Dutton. The man is the devil. The DEVIL.

So Milo has been banned, at least according to the letter provided to media, for fear of what protestors would do. A terrible precedent, extremists rewarded for being fascistic.
That's unreasonably sad and partly driven IMO by the upcoming election currying favour with the media by removing a contentious point.
If Milo toured, who would notice?

@antipodean Exactly. He is pretty much a spent force now and trying to take down Jordan Peterson on the ABC was just the final nail in his coffin.

I cringed while watching that and silently asked if the ABC had aired that question deliberately to harm Jordan. A decent director would never have permitted that to air.

Reporter who was at the scene says Anning supporters - 5 or 6 of them - were on the kid putting knees and elbows into him.
I disagree with the egging. I understand Anning reacting the way he did.
5 grown men pinning a kid down with a choke hold, knees and elbows? Nah.
That's a different issue.
Which should be dealt with separately
Hope so. It isn't "rough justice" after the first grown up connects to the face.

It’s a kid throwing eggs. I have no issue with it. It’s a form of free speech. In the day I’ve protested shit and reaped the consequences from the law. But this was vigililantism and over reaction. I’d have thought it’s assault.
The kid has the excuse of being young. These bullies by proclaiming their support of the soon to be ex Senator Clearly have to fall back on an insanity defence.

He didn't throw the egg though.
He had it in his hand the whole time and cracked it on the guy.
Ergo his hand hit the guy.
Assault under the letter of the law.
The senator then gave him a slap, and when the kid came at him gave him a second slap.
More learned and experienced people will have to determine cause, effect, and punishment.
And if you don't know what you're doing by 17 then that's a whole other can of worms.
And for the record I don't support the senator's ideology.

I wouldn't be charging the Senator. He was assaulted, he reacted straight away with what looked to me to be reasonable force. Then the kid came at him again and he defended himself, again with reasonable force.
The kid is more likely to be facing charges if a complaint is made.
The restraining of the kid is a bit more complex, but they do have some pretty liberal citizen arrest laws in Victoria (it happened in Melbourne right?).

I guess for me it comes down to one guy is an irrefutable oxygen thief and is smart enough to package his evil doctrine in a way that will gather some credibility from his fellow travellers
The other is a kid who even if he has been put up to it is well a kid and only doing what (hopefully) a majority would want to have the opportunity to do
I’m not quite as old as the senator but I’ll go 3 rounds with him any time and let him have the first few swings.

I'm enjoying the exchange over this imbroglio, so is the brat - I saw his triumphal gloating somewhere on anti-social media this afternoon - he's tens of thousands of newest best friends better off, $20,000 richer through that get rich scheme "Fund Me" (or similar), some celebrity solicitor has volunteered his services for free and, from his obvious unbridled glee, I warrant he'll lose a layer of skin tonight while he hunches over tugging furiously, as he relives his moment of courageous fame, over and over again.
I would have to reacquaint myself with DA Jack McCoy's sterling efforts on Law & Order to catch up on what constitutes assault in this enlightened new world - I assume if one purses one's lips and scowls darkly from a distance that probably constitutes grievous harm to feelings.
The advice here appears to be that one must react to an unexpected blind siding from an unseen assailant, wielding a three day old kitten or a six foot monkey wrench, by first conducting a pre-start including anyone who might react in one's defence. In the absence of a pre-engagement signed agreement on what's coming next and from how many then its vigilantism, for sure and for certain, and brutal disproportionate bullying² if the target is unpopular and disliked.
The kicker of course is the comment here, several times, that the Senator fella had it coming - how ironic.

Entitled little fluffybunny is old enough to be responsible for his actions. He's lucky it ended with a slapping.

The sort of came at each other after the egg+first slap. Both step in from the video I've seen.
Everything after that goes beyond restraint. A bouncer commented on Twitter that they've been told the are too many risks with choke hold. Certainly 5 on 1 is no situation for it.

Probably not, but I defer to the point that no one would've placed him in a choke hold if he didn't assault another person and try to film himself doing it. In portrait mode.

That's the REAL crime here.
But all the kids are doing it in the snaps and the whatsapps and such

Let's face it. If a less repulsive person had been attacked then nobody would have given a shit about the choke hold. I do wonder what the kid actually thought would happen after he threw the egg.

Probably not that.
On reach and body mass alone, he wasn't likely to get far against Anning, especially with a phone in his hand.
