Isn't viagogo a scam site? I've heard heaps of warnings against them.
Yeah I got my Italy tickets there last year and it worked out ok...seemed dodgy though as was just a printout from a link we got sent!
-
Also - gotta love the French, they really don't give a shit - or they just love annoying the English.
Switch the website to "English" mode, and sure - the header and footer turn to English... but the main content... nope. You speak francais, or fuck-a le-off, stupid island-monkey.Ahhh... and their merch store - has women's hands groping at each jersey/model.
Wear a replica jersey = get laid. Fucking french, in all senses of the word. -

viagogo itself isn't a scam site, but you can get unlucky and have some prick selling fake tickets, or rather - the same ticket to a hundred different people.
Happened to my parents who spent about $2.5k on tickets to see Adele in Auckland, which turned out to be fake.
Viagogo's response was basically GFY, we're just the middle men, not responsible.
They're a dodgy shell corporation headquartered in Switzerland, and provide a platform that give crooks carte blanche to defraud people with zero recourse. You'd be mad to buy anything through them in my opinion, it's just a massive roll of the dice.

Ah, yeah - that sucks. And their policy on that sort of thing sounds like it could be better, although I'm not sure what else they can do.
I've been caught out once for a gig ticket - don't think it was viagogo, but one of the other popular ones - I think seatwave, which is actually ticketmaster. Turned up - with the same ticket that about 60 other people had turned up with.
My problem was, that I had 1 genuine ticket I'd bought for myself ages ago, and 1 fake ticket bought "2nd-hand" when I found out a mate would be in town... so even if I could get the money back from the fake - I was still fucked (should have just gone in myself and left my mate at the pub, but was too annoyed to even find enjoyment in being an ass) The venue gave me a "note" to help if I did try to get money back from seatwave, but I couldn't even be arsed doing that.
So yeah - it's a gamble, but I'm not sure how much I can blame the companies... even if they insisted on scanning the QR or barcode of each ticket being sold - some fluffybunny could just sell the same ticket on 4 different websites (sure - reduce the profit margins hugely, but to the poor fluffybunnies who get to the venue 2nd/3rd/4th - not much comfort)
And in general - fuck touts. If I turn up to a gig with extra tickets because I don't have any mates, I refuse to even sell them to touts. I've given free tickets to people talking to touts, rather than give those fluffybunnies any benefit. -
On the touts...
I live nearby Twickenham so when i want to watch a match I just go down and watch a tout.
As soon as they hook a spare seat I just swoop in and say "I'm a real rugby fan and will pay a fair price for the ticket" the touts look filthy at me but fuck them and the horse they rode in on.
They just wander off as it's not in their interest to make a scene and I get into the match.
Works pretty well and people are generally happy to know who is sitting beside them. (As the ticket is generally a mate who didn't turn up so your gonna spend a whole game with them)
Watched plenty of great games that way.

Sorry @Kruse but I have to correct you here. Viagogo is a well known scam site.
Just a quick Google search will show many many complaints about them. They "buy" tickets in bulk and then resell them which is either illegal in many jurisdictions or against the terms and conditions of the tickets which you are buying. On top of that, they often charge a significant margin on top of the face value of the tickets.
Recently my wife and I got caught up in their scam and fortunately, we alerted Amex quickly enough that we didn't lose our money.
In our specific case, it was to purchase tickets to a show at the Sydney Opera House, a comedian whose name I can't remember now, and we checked with the Opera House and they would not have honoured the tickets.
We were lucky to get out of that one as it was a purchase made when we were a bit drunk and thought that Viagogo was a legit site.
My advice to anyone is to steer well clear of Viagogo!
-
@RoninWC From what I read, it's their treatment of clients which is the issue. And in one incident, some genuine overcharging which they dealt with extremely poorly.
- It's not the company themselves buying tickets in bulk, it's the touts using viagogo as a medium.
- And it's not them charging over the face value, it's the seller (plus, sure, a viagogo 'commission')
Every complaint I read is misunderstanding that viagogo really is the "middle-man" - albeit a middle-man with less scruples than the rest, by the sounds of it.
I'm certainly not defending what they actually do, but it seems there's a massive misconception as to how much of the shit is actually them, and how much is the seller on the other end.
In any case, it seems very strange that SRU has chosen them as an official partner. -

Two and a half grand to see Adele?
The FUCK????
-
@MN5 Yeah, there is that too.
Probably a topic for the BucketList thread - but I can't think of anybody I'd be willing to pay a grand to see (assuming 2.5 grand was for 2 people).
Although the articles, it seems viagogo in NZ/Aus do charge massive fees on top of the seller-listed price, and some people just look at the big colourful numbers, ignore the smallprint - lots of people being surprised by the bill when it actually comes in.
Anyway NZ$1000 - the only people I can think of are dead, and a grand is a fair price to see a dead artist, I reckon. -

In any case, it seems very strange that SRU has chosen them as an official partner."Viagogo - Scottish Rugby's official secondary ticketing partner – to buy and sell
viagogo provides supporters with a secure and guaranteed online platform on which to safely buy and sell tickets for Scotland’s home games. Tickets may be sold for above or below face value"They are a re-selling platform that charges a commission and has shit customer service if things go wrong and you want them to back up their guarantees.
The media will often jump on them because dumb ass people think they might be at a first party ticket seller and then realise they are paying over the face value.
Sadly they provide not only a valuable legit service but an avenue for touts as well.
Just a case of buyer beware. If you really want to go to a sold out event and can get tickets through them, check and double check the risk level involved before hitting the buy button. -

I've been watching the tickets available for Scotland-AllBlacks,
And most of the tickets are £150 or above, with specific sections of the stadium mentioned.
But there's 1 ticket, priced at £80, with only a general description of which area it's in... it's the cheapest ticket, been sitting there constantly. Either everybody is smart enough to realise it's dodgy-as-fuck, or each time it's sold, it's just being put back on. In either case - major red flags, and no way in hell I'd be buying it. -
Back on topic ......
'French Selection' is a bit meh.
Although true to the old traditions of the French tours I remember from 86 and 90 etc.
Which itineraries went something like:
French Selection
French Selection
French Selection
French Selection
French Selection
FRANCE
French Barbarians
FRANCEThe French tours, outside the tests, were always the least interesting to follow. Because who gives a ruck about a team called 'French Selection'.
From 1990, I recall, that once you got there you found out that the game v e.g.'French Selection' in Toulon became Cote d'Azur selection which was a selection of players from that region's clubs plus the odd random from a totally different part of France that the French national selectors wanted to have a look at.
The same would happen once you got to the game in e.g. Bayonne and the 'French Selection' became Cote Basque Selection etc etc etc
Not the romance of a tour game v a Munster, or Transvaal, Western Province or NSW, or Cardiff, Llanelli etc
I'm surprised it's not v French Barbarians, but I supppose the FFR don't own that club, and all the commercial complications that entails.

So - on the French "Billetterie Officielle" website, a fixture for "Barbarians Francais vs Maori All Blacks" has appeared today - Friday 10th November, Bordeaux. (Night before the ABs play)
I work for a French company, so will be searching for an excuse to visit Paris that week, methinks. -
@Kruse I find it so annoying that NZR keeps everyone in the dark about the tests/games to be played during the EOYT. None of the games are on their website and they haven't even announced that there will be a Māori All Blacks tour. The online presence of NZR is really, really poor (main website and subwebsites).

To be fair - I can't find any other evidence of this game anywhere via askjeeves.
But yes - rather poor that the NZR website hasn't even been updated with the other EOYT games yet. In this day and age, when "Social Media Manager" is a goddamn job title, for chrissake. -

-
@Crucial Yep - I checked that as soon as I saw the Maori game - wondering if they'd updated that with a package for both (all 3???) games in France. Nothing as yet.
They haven't even sorted out adding the Barbarians game at Twickenham into their other packages - just a note that there will be an add-on "in the coming weeks" -
If this is true, then fuckwits
England players Manu Tuilagi and Denny Solomona have been sent home from a training camp over "team culture issues", says the Rugby Football Union. The RFU did not comment further but the issue is thought to be alcohol-related.re
