Trainspotting
Trainspotting 2rewatched 1 and then 2 back to back. had to crank volume to 120 db's to try and grasp the FUCKING Scortish accents.
Was expecting sequel to be lame. In fact, they've should have made it lame on purpose, that would've been an accurate reflection of life in your 40's/50's: lame, undignified and generally pretty fucking disgraceful. i'm 50 this year. Didn't our ancestors all fucken die about now? Can't help but feel some sort of biological chime intoning "fuckit mate, that'll do."
Plenty of scenes in T2 reminiscing the lads "glory days" that REALLY reinforced how awesome it is to be young, dumb and full of cum. Wow, Renton even shoehorned in an update of his "Choose Life" speech for 2017 too.
Cue google: spoiler :
Choose designer lingerie, in the vain hope of kicking some life back into a dead relationship. Choose handbags, choose high-heeled shoes, cashmere and silk, to make yourself feel what passes for happy. Choose an iPhone made in China by a woman who jumped out of a window and stick it in the pocket of your jacket fresh from a South-Asian firetrap. Choose Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram and a thousand others ways to spew your bile across people you've never met. Choose updating your profile, tell the world what you had for breakfast and hope that someone, somewhere cares. Choose looking up old flames, desperate to believe that you don't look as bad as they do. Choose live-blogging, from your first wank till your last breath; human interaction reduced to nothing more than data. Choose ten thing you never knew about celebrities who've had surgery. Choose screaming about abortion, choose rape jokes, slut-shaming, revenge porn and an endless tide of depressing misogyny. Choose 9/11 never happened, and if it did, it was the Jews. Choose a zero-hour contract and a two hour journey to work, and choose the same for your kids, only worse, and maybe tell yourself that it's better that they never happened. And then sit back and smother the pain with an unknown dose of an unknown drug made in somebody's fucking kitchen. Choose unfulfilled promise and wishing you'd done it all differently. Choose never learning from your own mistakes. Choose watching history repeat itself. Choose the slow reconciliation towards what you can get, rather than what you always hoped for. Settle for less and keep a brave face on it. Choose disappointment and choose losing the ones you love then as they fall from view, a piece of you dies with them until you can see that one day in the future, piece by piece they will be all gone and there will be nothing left of you to call alive or dead. Choose your future, Veronica. Choose life
Best scene in any Trainspotting movie ever

So I made a mistake, I let my 19 year old niece choose the movie to go to this weekend. Five Feet Apart. It's a teenagers with life threatening illness movie. It's really, really, really bad. It's stupid to go with it's badness. I've seen watchable versions of this movie (the one with the guy from Baby Driver and the girl from the Descendants was ok) but this was just plain cabbage and the book it is based on must be terrible.
The mostly female crowd seem to lap it up though. There were tears and cheers. My niece liked it although she was apologetic for picking it.

In Tranzit
Based on a true story of German POWs being sent to a Soviet prison camp run by women. If you can overlook the thin character development and bad Russian accents, Vera Farmiga shows her tits.
That's not enough to save it.

I watched that Fyre Festival documentary last night, what an amazing, sad, and thoroughly modern story.

Which one, The Netflix one?
Think of the poor bastard who thought he was going to have to suck some guys dick so they would have water..
Have to admit seeing those entitled millennials getting conned and the sheer terror they must have gone through (no wifi, only tents!)
Stupid fucks.. -

Yeah I dunno......
Sean of the Dead and Army of Darkness are bona fide classics but most of those Zombie Comedies end up being pretty shit.
Iggy Pop is probably the only "actor" ( actually I'd call him a "singer" too ) who looks better and more healthy with Zombie make up on than without.

The Dirt
Motley Crue biopic just put on on Netflix. Based on the book by the four of them, and they are executive producers, so that either makes it authentic, or heavily edited, you can decide for yourself.
It's weirdly made. It is almost like a Lifetime movie at times, looking very much a made-for-tv format, and light hearted, but with a very predictable cycle (band forms, band explodes, excess happens, shit goes off the rails, band reforms with heartfelt messages of "brothers"). With Wonder Years type voice-overs, and then you get some fourth-wall breaks as a character will speak directly to you.
But, of course, to balance all of the above, there is a fuck ton of tits and drug use. Real cliche rock and roll shit. Getting fucked up. Blowjobs in bars. Trashing hotels. you know, the usual. Still, the heroin process is pretty detailed, they certainly didn't skimp on that part.
I think there is a concerted effort to keep it light hearted throughout (Tommy Lee is basically a goofball. His "average day on the road" is a highlight), and while the serious shit is shown, it does sort of pass you by. I think they were trying to show that despite it all, they had a fuck load of fun.
It's no awards season Queen movie, it's a pretty fun look at four fuckheads from LA that made it very, very big in the 80s hair metal scene. And maybe the fact we are so used to musician biopics being dark and brooding and fuuuucking serious that when you get one that really isn't, you have trouble with it. I still found it a heap of fun, especially the first half.

Might check it out, I read the autobiography of Steve Adler (original GnR drummer) few years ago. He was mates with Nikki Sixx and talked of how often they hit high together. Completely fucked up at times, I’m amazed both are still alive.
That whole 80’s LA rock scene must have been a drug dealers golden period. -
