Movie review thread...

oh yea, i finally got around to watching Captain America: Civil War
I didn't get it. I mean, it was fun and all, some cool, if a little long fight scenes. But i didn't understand any characters motivation. From teh minute the accords turned up, they all took a hard stand one way or the other, without reading a damn thing.
"we absolutely have to do this"
"no, i won't be told what to do"
"well, you're a dick"
"no, you're a dick".
And that seemed to define their motivation for the rest of the movie. It didn't take anything for them to just flat out stop trusting each other. And seriously, another fucking Avengers movie where the main villain is pretty much themselves? And just how was old mate's plan supposed to work when Iron Man only turned up late to Siberia?
Liked the new Spiderman though, he was funny, and Paul Rudd is fucking great.
What the fuck is Thor going to think when he comes back and all his bros don't talk to each other any more?
On a scale of Thor 2 to Winter Soldier, it's about Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The wife is watching the Golden Globes. These people take themselves far too seriously.
Deadpool didn't win best comedy, losing out to a fucking musical.
And the wrong Ryan won for best comedy/musical actor.
Giving everything to La La Land really does feel like Hollywood sucking itself off

Holy fuck Mandy Moore looks unreal!

Golden Globes isn't really Hollywood, the foreign press often make random choices (Brooklyn 99, an awesome show, actually won the tv comedy award with them one year) so it's actually surprising they didn't go for Deadpool.

Seeing the material, and the director, it looks conflicted.

Saw Disney's Moana last night and really enjoyed it. Both Moana and Maui were great characters. I was the only person in the theater who appeared to click on as to why the retarded rooster was named Hei Hei though....

I think we're the only ones who use heihei - the PI's still use Moa? Moa the chicken is less funny I guess.

Well a quick google tells me that Roly never actually drowned, it was an urban myth.
I really thought he did!

Back to the non-boob things for a moment:
Kubo And The Two Strings
Pretty bloody good . Tells the tale of a young boy and his magical forebears in a feudal Japan setting. Magical, with a compelling storyline, it doesn't pull any punches when it comes to grounding itself in the reality of life and death.
Great stop-motion production and effects as well. Little slow to start.
4 out of 5 talking monkeys.
