Ghostbusters: Apparently this was supposed to be the worst thing to happen to movies ever, EVER! Meh, some people are just fucking stupid. It was a decent movie, pretty funny in parts and probably easily the best of the 80s/90s remakes of the past few years.

'Girl' Ghostbusters actually work and Chris Hemsworth is quite funny as the himbo.

3.5 misogynist cry babies out of 5.
-

Boy was sick at school. Picked him up early from work - saved me from a 3-hour bullshit session on Mission and Purpose :good: - and decided, as I had a bit of Google Credit, we were overdue for Batman vs Superman via ChromeCast.

Unlike MN5, I like the superhero movies because as a kid I wanted to see them done right, and all we got was shite.

I really enjoyed this. It was a little dreary in parts as Snyder tried to set up the imagery and do flashbacks and shit, but overall it was exactly what I expected: shit blowing up and overpowered mofos smashing the shit out of each other.

I liked Affleck's Batman. I thought he did the drunken playboy/remorseless prick balance very well.

3.5 out of 5 tortured rich orphans.

Were you castrated before or after you went to see it?

In all seriousness it might be a decent film, but rebooting Ghostbusters as a chick flick has to be one of the most retarded ideas in motion picture history. -

I'm not a misogynist crybaby, have a fully functioning pecker, and I chose to go see it.

The fact that it was only $10 and that contributes to just under a 1/4 of a free ticket with my Event points may have had something to do with it.

FYI - it wasn't rebooted as a chick flick, it was rebooted as a comedy with chicks in the lead - and those blokes you loved in the original were all behind it, the surviving ones all had cameos.
-

A comedy with chicks in the lead directed by Paul Feig. No that's no chick flick. BTW I think you'll find Bill Murray risked getting sued if he didn't appear in the movie.

But give it a rest with all that misogyny bullshit. That isn't the reason this film has bombed worse than Curtis Lemay.

The fact is Ghostbusters is an incredibly popular franchise with a strong following. It isn't just the 2 movies, but also video games, cartoons and comics. A third film has been in the works for years. It defies belief that Sony would want to reboot such a strong brand in the comedy/horror genre as a girlpower movie. Why would you do that? You piss off the diehard fans, lose a massive audience of male nerds and geeks who don't want to see a chick flick, and the girls don't want to see it because they want a proper chick flick not 30 plus year old women killing ghosts. It makes no sense from any perspective, particularly from a financial one. A mixed team would have allowed them to sell shitloads of toys, but no way that's going to happen.

They should have rebooted it with a mixed team and with a better director. Now the entire franchise is dead again.
-

That bold is quite comical when you started with this comment:

As for some of the other points, the Murray litigation emails pre-date Feig's involvement in the franchise and the idea to have women leads. The email was from when Reitman was still attached to direct and Ramis was still alive.

Better director? Feig is one of the better comedy directors floating around these days, to suggest otherwise is just stupidity (even if you don't like the fact his films are female centred).

A chick flick is a romance/romantic comedy film directed at women. As I said, Ghostbuster's isn't a chick flick, it's just a film with female leads.

So what if the franchise is dead, in this age of reboots, sequels, prequels etc it can probably be kicked back into life if the fanbois get a director, team and story they like.
-

my wife and her friends went to Ghostbusters, they liked it....

Pretty similar in concept but force awakens had some awesome scenes which Ghostbusters could never reach on nostagia levels. -

I saw Suicide squad. Had potential but never delivered. Not familiar with the comics but is there any point to the boomerang bandit or whatever his name is. "Crikey cobbers!, that fire breathing demigod is heading our way! Don't worry I'll hiff my trusty boomerang at him!, struth! stone the fuckin crows it did nothing!"

That was a joke you retard. And it should be noted that you came out flying with all that misogynist bullshit from the getgo.

As usual you completely ignored all my points as to why this film bombed. To suggest Paul Feig was the man to reboot a franchise like Ghostbusters is nothing but stupidity on your part. It's like getting Michael Bay to reboot Dead Poets Society.

First rule when rebooting a popular franchise: Do not fuck with a winning formula. They did that and the result is a box office bomb.

It took a quarter of a century to get a third film, do you honestly think it will be rebooted again in our lifetimes? This film has effectively killed any chance of future Ghostbusters films.
-
