Finished Narcos...good series, although felt Ep10 was a bit of a waste of space, Ep9 pretty much completed it, so they used another ep to do some gap filling which I didn't think they really needed, probably coulda made ep9 an extra 20 mins.
Well I know another series is in the offing but given one of their production team was killed in Mexico while surveying sites, might be delayed?

Ascension
This was in my recommended list, and after a bit of research I saw that the Hot Blonde Cylon (hereafter: HBC) was in it, which is always a plus.
I'm 1.5 eps in, and its a little slow-paced. I keep asking myself all the scientific questions while looking at a gigantic fucking spaceship. I was about to give up on it when HBC's arse appeared in both natural and then clothed forms, so I'm now in for the whole 6 eps.
All the chicks in this thing are pretty hot besides that.

@rembrandt I just got to the end of Ep2* and just had a massive "aha!" moment. Big enough to keep me watching.
*The original thing was a 3-part miniseries - Chapters 1, 2, and 3. They broke each in half to make 6 eps, for reasons i don't understand.

@taniwharugby overall, yes. Just.
Tricia Helfer's cylon arse is still in good shape.
Complete lack of boobies marks it down a little.

Just finished this, surprisingly good!
Very well done.
Like the first 'Scream'. Reverent and irreverent in perfect balance.

I enjoyed it until it became clear what was happening. Then it was just stupid. They had an interesting premise before that.

@kirwan I think it could have done with a second season.
What was the seahorse all about? A measure of Enzmann's obsession? Was he too busy/lazy to buy anniversary presents?
Where did Gault end up? And the other guy, Medici?
What would Christa do next? How could they develop/harness her gift? -
Channel 4 has adapted ten of Philip K. Dick's short stories as the series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams.
I assume that they only had the rights to the most minor stories, as the first two were rather dull and it seems that they are all early period (50's). The third episode had an excellent performance from Timothy Spall, and was quite affecting despite never resolving into anything convincing or satisfying. It was a rather effective rumination on mental illness, parenthood, and personal disappointment, despite never adding up to much. I guess that even a misguided screenwriter will still be able to convey Dick's humanist sympathy and frequently melancholy atmosphere.

I think you are reading too much into it.
These are basically well produced and acted piles of shit that make you wonder why you are wasting time watching them.

I've read pretty much everything by PKD, and adore his best work. However, he is perhaps the most adapted and licensed writer ever, so there is little of his work remaining to use. Auto-Fac was an excellent short story, so hopefully that will be good.

I'd guess that Stephen King may hold that title and his body of work has also been adapted into some stinkers among the good.
I'm just not getting Electric Dreams. It is like it is telling me that if I don't understand it then I am at fault.

Training Day
A follow-up from the 2001 Denzel movie set in modern day LA with new characters. This series didn't get many favourable reviews but is interesting enough to watch because of Bill Paxton, who plays the corrupt police detective. Unfortunately Paxton's sudden death means that only one season was filmed before it was cancelled. I've only watched 8 of the 13 episodes so far. Ep 1 started on TVNZ last night.

Other half and I just binged the Mist. Without posting too many spoilers it had more than a couple of outstanding horrific deaths and the premise was great but I read they cancelled it after one season and left us with a cliffhanger which sux.
Ah thanks for the heads up on that @mn5, was just about to start a binge session on that so will put that one down the list and look at other binge worthy options.
I really hate it when you invest in a series and then it get's cancelled and you are left feeling totally unsatisfied... Much like my own love life.
Cheers

am up to date with Mr. Mercedes with 2 eps of the series to go.
Pretty dark and farked up series, but some light humour in there at times.
Only noticed last night as I watched the opening credits it is based on a Stephen King novel.
