  • @Bovidae I gave up on the latest season of Vikings after about 3 or 4 eps.

Used to love Vikings, even thought the 1st seaosn post Ragnar was good, but now...

I thought S1 of TLK was very good, havent started latest season, but def lowered expectations as it seems on a downward trend.

@Nepia interestingly reading @Toddy comments, it isnt the first time I have heard that view of TLK vs Vikings...

  • @Toddy said in TV Serieseseses:

@Nepia being astounded by it seems a tad dramatic.

Both shows are pretty good, I just enjoy The Last Kingdom more.

I hated myself for hate watching The Walking Dead. I can't even remember when I finally managed to stop. Maybe season 8.

Overly dramatic on the fern, never. 🙂 If you read my earlier post about it in this thread I don't think it's remotely near the level of Vikings (at least in S1) so that's where that comment comes from ... feels like I cheap rip off to me (but as per usual, unless it's the prequel trilogy, we can all enjoy what we enjoy).

I think I maybe stopped The Walking Dead a season ahead of you, and hearing how it has gone since then I'm so glad I did.

  • @taniwharugby said in TV Serieseseses:

I think my expectations might have been too high. If I'd gone in cold I may have enjoyed it more?

  • @Bovidae said in TV Serieseseses:

I still have the most recent episodes of Vikings to watch, and I'll stick it out to the end. By the comments here I don't think I will even bother with The Last Kingdom. It sounds like Knightfall - watchable but not great.

Much better than Knightfall. I couldn’t sit through that till the end of S1. Not awful or unwatchable, just not engaging.

Re-watching The Witcher to see if I can make more sense of it, mostly timeline related. It’s working so far (Ep3).

  • @Catogrande I am sure The Last Kingdom will be better than Knightfall. But I've got other TV series I want to get around to watching and only so much time to watch them, so that won't be one of them.

Anyway, 6 seasons of Bosch done over the last few weeks. I didn't think S6 was as good as previous seasons so we'll see how they wrap the show up in S7.

  • @Bovidae yeah got the last 3 episodes of Bosch to watch this weekend - this season has seemed a bit all over the place eh.

  • @Bones said in TV Serieseseses:

Yep. Some storylines drag on too long and others have ended abruptly.

  • @Bones oh that's right, the season I just finished of Bosch wasn't the latest one.

  • @taniwharugby always good when you realise that!

  • Finished watching The Last Dance

My estimation of Michael Jordan has only gone up based on this series. One of those few people whose drive to succeed pulls everyone else along to attain that level of accomplishment.

    head to the NBA thread

  • White Lines seems pretty fun so far. Chick goes to Ibiza to try and solve her brothers murder is the basic premise. Some quirky characters and plenty of T & A. Shit it's a beautiful area, I bet the locals get annoyed with pissed and drugged up Brits constantly invading ( and in the case of several of the main characters, never leaving )

There is no chance of me liking that and then after two episodes I loved it! Do you know if they did a second series?

  • I saw the trailer for White Lines and was wondering whether it would be worthwhile. Will add it to my Netflix queue.

The Last Kingdom update: Midway through S2 and I think I'm actually starting to properly enjoy it and not just watching it because I was too lazy to push stop (which is what happened when I started watching S2).

I like his little gang, the Irish dude, the ass kicking Nun, Cedric (?), and the big Dane. Plus Alfred's big dude who is sometimes with them.

Uhtred is still an idiot sometimes, often matched by Alfred also being an idiot despite the fact he's supposed be a strategical genius.

  • Pumped for the latest season of Umbrella Academy too! That was a really good program

  • Looking forward to this. Only re-watched Highlander the other day.

  • @antipodean Looks interesting. And Charlize...

  • Kingdom Season 2 - pretty cool after getting off to a bit of a slow start. Lot of long-pause shots that I can skip through made for fast watching. The great thing is I can't have my phone in front of me while watching on the PC or I miss the subtitles 😉

    Season 3 should be rad.

  • Mindhunter

Really trying to stick with this as I get to the end of season 1 but FFS it is sedate in its pacing. There are series that are more entertaining.

    But not many better.

  • Halfway through the season of Hollywood and loving it. Plenty of nudity and bonking, snark and casting couch in movieland, set in the 1940s. Lighthearted, but deals with racism and bigotry and the choices people made to try and be a star. Mix of fictional and real life characters, great cast.

Sounds sensational. Will definitely give this a hoon after White Lines, only two episodes to go.

Putting it mildly. Really dreary after the ( admittedly extremely over the top ) Hannibal series......

Charlize is looking more and more "I'd like to speak to the manager" as every year passes......

  • @MN5 Ha, White Lines is also on my list to watch. Series swap!

It's quite the modern day whodunnit. Surprisingly compelling viewing.

  • Rick and Morty new episodes - burp!

  • Lazy Sunday viewing. Found the new version of Van der Valk.
Standard police procedural and although set in Amsterdam, the actors aren’t remotely Dutch.
Well made though and entertaining without being taxing.

Have you seen any of the one off Maigret shows with Mr Bean? Surprisingly good.

Yes. Watched those as they came out. Very good

That’s the one. It’s all been downhill since Prometheus

  • Finished Devs

OVerall, I enjoyed it, but in the end (as I so often lament about series) I think it was a bit weak, although not quite sure how they could have done it better, but thats why they are the writers/producers, not me.

Watched a few eps of Upload (love series with eps under 30 mins) and seems decent, some parts reminding me of The Good Place (which isnt a surpirse given both dealing with the 'afterlife')

The creator of Upload co-created Parks and Rec with Mike Shur who created The Good Place.

I've been putting off getting Amazon due to too many streaming services so far and I don't particularly care for their business practices, but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet as there's too many shows I want to check out.

I've just ended my cheap 6 month deal with Amazon, and I watched all of the TV series and the few movies I was interested in at this stage.

Yeah, I'm going to get the 1 month free and see how much I can plow through.

  • Just finished What We Do In The Shadows. Thought it was really well done eh. Some proper snort moments and the vampire council was brilliant.

So finished S1. I'm currently watching S2 and while I don't think it's as good as S1 there are still plenty of funny scenes. Some good cameos too.
