After a week off for the bye the Pulse Energy Highlanders will take on the Cape Town based Stormers and will be seeking their second win of the season. There is a look of consistency in the team with only three changes from their season opener against the Blues. In the forwards, Tasman loosie Shannon Frizzel takes his place on the reserves bench, while co-captain Ash Dixon will miss the game with a back injury and will be replaced by Greg Pleasants-Tate. In the backs, powerful Fijian winger Tevita Nabura earns a spot on the left wing. It is a debut game for both Frizzel and Nabura. Head Coach, Aaron Mauger, expects a tough game “the Stormers are a big side so we expect a physical encounter, they are also a dangerous team with ball in hand in open spaces, so we are well aware of those threats and have prepared to meet those challenges. Of course for our team it’s another opportunity to put a good performance together at home for our people; we will certainly be working hard to do just that”.

wait, Richard Buckman has a neck?
-
-
I thought Dan Pryor was going to take Dixon's spot on the bench, but Sky has Marino Mikaele-Tu'u on its list. Wow.

Pryor injured
-
Has Luke Whitelock bulked up in offseason?
-
@stockcar86 Awesome if Marino gets to make his SR debut! Falcon last week.
Makes me all the more pissed off at the Canes though. You can guess why.
-
Landers have been terrible with their passing and handling. Paid for it there.
5-12.
-
@gt12 Yes, after that quick first try, I thought it would be a similar game to Crusaders v Stormers. Now, I'm not so sure.
-
Yusss, try time!
-
Oh ffs, interviewing the coach during the game?
-
Highlanders might be in trouble with a video ref referral for a tip on a Stormer at a ruck

Or not, get away with what you can I guess
-
who Is this fucking muppet in 11 for the landers? Fuck he’s useless.
-
Highlanders could do with some ball
-
This looks silly, he’s bringing his left arm around. No YC here.
-
-
Great try landers.
The stormers kick chase not quite good enough that time and Naholo makes a nice catch.
19-15
-
I sense the Stormers will run out of steam in the second half
-
I think Walden blew a try chance there.
-
Landers 11 looks like he doesn’t know the laws.
Bet he’s a good athlete though.
-
Is not straight not a thing anymore?
Also why was that tackle around the neck let go before?
High is high regardless how much power is in the tackle and if it is effective or not, surely? -
Fuck off Jackson, that’s momentum!
Anyway regardless, I see players crawling after being tackled numerous times during a game
-
Jackson was going all hometown to start the game but he had a makeup call with BFA's non-try.
-
I don’t mind the call if it’s consistent, but we’be Already seen examples of that much crawling in this game.
-
I'm tempted to start www.crawlwatch.co.nz. Farking hate it - once a knee hits, you're tackled son. Don't get up and go again, and ffs don't crawl.
-

Not momentum but he was never held in a tackle. Rubbish call from Jackson, who I suspect was trying to make up for the turnover call at the other end when Bender had his hands on the ground.
-
Highlanders robbed of a try there. Or 3 at the very least. No way he was held. Then the Stormers player dived on Smith as he was on the ground, which minutes earlier had been a penalty the other way. So if it is no try for crawling surley it is a penalty for diving on the player on the ground.

Once a knee hits while you are grasped by the tackler it is a tackle.
-
That's never a try.
Fundamental rule that you've got to play the game on your feet.

Don't suppose you'd mind telling a few refs this?

In that case, penalty against Kolisi for tacking BFA on the ground. Therefore penalty try and yellow card. 😉

Which was the first offence?
-
Oh how the fuck did he not score that
-
Surely Highlanders ball for knocked back?
Where is the consistency?
One of those rules that change depending where you are on the field? -
Good try,
That was an eye catching run from Thompson at the start of that movement.
-
A Smith surely won’t be allowed in the All Blacks with that haircut.
SURELY!
-
Highlanders kicking game has been very poor tonight. Stormers have outplayed them completely in that area. Just the Stormers have defended so poorly. They could ship 50 at any time.
-
Just turned on for the second half.
A Smith's passing is just off the charts. So good. Finds runners, he's hitting people two channels out consistently. It just gives them so much space and stretches the defence. What a player
-
This is the kind of game that fresh legs could cause havoc, it’s been played at a hell of a pace, and physical so there’ll be tired bodies out there.
