Netball

  • @bones Oh yeah, great win. But they need to string wins together and get combos sorted, plus ensure all the shooters fire. Folau at GA shouldn't have to do everything because the GS is unreliable or shooting poorly (like what we saw with Mes). I will add having Langman back in the midcourt makes a huge difference. That was something horribly obvious at the Comm Games, the defence winning a turnover, only for it to fall apart in the midcourt.

I'm sorry but due to your writing skiting I see nothing but lurid innuendo. I think.

  • @mokey Agree with all of that - but credit for Langman being back has to go to Taurua

The reliance on Folau is a real worry as she is the absolute epitome of a confidence player. Probably defines one more than anyone in any sport. When the force is with her she is incandescent and is nailing them from everywhere- miss a couple under the posts and / or get bullied - not so much.

  • I don't think it's a coincidence that Folau just had a blinder. To me it looks like Taurua has got Folau playing better - Folau seems to moving around a hell of a lot more - it seems like they actually have a plan on attack (and defence) that the team is buying into.

  • @dogmeat Absolutely. The circle can't revolve around one player. The midcourters need to be confident that whoever is free is capable of shooting the goal, or at least be right there for a rebound shot. The GS should be pretty much planted under the goal like Irene used to be, and have a very high accuracy rate. Then the GA can zip in and out to get closer or take the wider shots.

She’s the netball version of Beauden Barrett. Except he’s not married to a homophobe bible bashing over rated rugby player..

Maybe he could spend more time praying to the sky fairy to keep wifey's shooting % in the mid 90s

  • rip georgie salter

  • Well we beat Malawi. Yay!

Any thoughts how we'll go in the NWC?

We're alrwady better than the Comm Games.

We’ll stumble our way into the top 4 and make the semis and who knows.

    Oh it’s netball sorry....

Get through on Net Run Rate?

  • I have a passing interest in netball.

Enough to want to know the results, but not enough to go out of my way to watch any of it.

Anyway, two from two for the goodies to date. Cleaned up Barbados overnight.

  • Watching the Ferns play Singapore befor the Crickets starts.
Faloau looks absolutely focussed. Good to see.
Love that we are competing in two WCs in UK currently

We have the easier side of the draw - almost as if it was designed for us to qualify.

Other semi-finalists should be England Jamaica and Oz.

Just like CWC there could well be a new name on the trophy at the end of the Championship.

It is conceivable that neither Oz nor NZ make the Final

  • England have lost one of their starting defenders (Guscoth) to a ruptured Achilles. No injury replacements allowed.

    That's harsh

I can understand why the rule is in place. It's a short tournament with games each day, so you can't disadvantage teams like NZ, Aust etc who would have to fly a replacement player in compared to the hosts. Sokolich-Beatson had to fly back to NZ once Rore was confirmed to be fit.

That's why they have a 2 day stand down for injury replacements at RWC.

  • @booboo but RWC’s go for ages compared to the the Netty.

    True enough.

But still harsh to 80% (?) Zof the tournament withh 11 players
