NBA season 2018/19

  • Knicks probably miss out on KD & KI and overpay for Jimmy Butler and Kemba Walker instead.

  • @raznomore said in NBA season 2018/19:

@canefan I reckon KI goes to Lakers.

I heard that rumour. He probably realizes how good he had it playing with LBJ

I think KD is too sensitive to survive the NY media spotlight. He should stay right where he is and rack up the trophies along with all that money

  • @Sneakdefreak Kemba and Butler two very strong personalities. They can take the NYC fan hate but can they play together?

  • @Magpie_in_aus said in NBA season 2018/19:

Man imagine if the lakers got it. Would have been crazy.

At least they would have had no room to stuff it up if they did. Zion is the hands down pick, you would be mad to pass on a talent like that, even if there are no guarantees. LA have picked in the top 4 of the draft 3 times in 4 years
2015 D'Angelo Russell (#2). KAT was #1, Kristop Porzingis was the only other notable
2016 Ingram (#2). Simmons was #1, Kris Dunn, Buddy Hield and Jamal Murray were other notables
2017 Ball (#2). Fultz was #1, LA passed on Fox, Tatum, and Donovan Mitchell

The only really bad whiff appears to be the 2017. Magic should put his hand up for that one, any of those 3 guys so far are better than Ball

And they gave away Zubacs to the Clips, when they weren't even asking for him. He was a good energy player. LA are a total dumpster fire at the moment, and will find a way to fuck this up too probably

  • I really hope the Hornets want the sixth pick and Jawun Evans.

  • @canefan

Even with the Lonzo Ball it wasn't a complete blow out the kid can play just needs a run of injury free court time and get out of those BBB shoes haha (not that Nike is much better if you ask Zion). Not sure how if both are injury free the dynamics of two pass first guards in Rondo and Ball will work unless Lonzo finally gets that shot going.

I love a good passing guard so I'm a bit biased.

In other news where do you think everyone will end up. Raptors could end up with an empty roster
    Anthony Davis
    Draymond Green
    Andre Drummond
    Demar DeRozan
    Kristaps Porzingis
    Al Horford
    Mike Conley
    Gordon Hayward
    Danilo Gallinari
    Marc Gasol
    Kyle Lowry
    Otto Porter
    Serge Ibaka
    Paul Millsap

    Potential Restricted Free Agents:

Ben Simmons, Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, Buddy Hield, Pascal Siakam, Jamal Murray, Dejounte Murray, Kris Dunn, Caris LeVert, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Dario Saric, Domantas Sabonis, Malik Beasley, Taurean Prince.

  • Davis staying in NO is now a real possibility. You'd think it depends on how good Zion is. If he's a Lebron-level talent, then AD would be insane to walk away from that.

Draymond and Klay seem likely to stay in Golden State.

Pretty sure Mike Conley's deal lasts for at least another year, though.

  • Rumour has it KD and KI will go to the Knicks

Another rumour has KI going to the Lakers to reunite with LBJ

Kawhai was meant to be heading to the Clippers

That is a big list, could be some big changes in the landscape before next year. The Warriors will probably still win though.....

  • Yeah I got the info from this site https://www.forbes.com/sites/tommybeer/2019/04/22/2020-nba-free-agent-rankings-anthony-davis-draymond-green-and-the-top-15-overall/#65a41e9b63f2

    Some are player options.

Rumour Mill is rife at the moment. Think the KD/KI was built off the knicks getting Zion. Man I hope he is as good in the NBA as he looks. Absolute freak and for the next few years doesn't blow your cap.

Wonder what Kawhai would do if the raptors won the chip. Be like a reverse KD going from a winner to a also-ran.

  • For a guy who does not like the limelight, I would suggest he might find LA a bit too high profile. Even if he is playing for the other team in LA... Toronto might suit him better

  • The thing that unites Kawhi, KD and Kyrie is they are all totally unpredictable, with a wild variety of motivations, weaknesses, aspirations.

I'd suggest that nobody really knows what each will do. The Kawhi to the Clippers rumour seems to be the most likely, but who knows what impact this title run will have on him.

  • Milwaukee take game 1 of the ECFs on the back of a shooting performance from..... BROOK LOPEZ???!!!?!?!

  • What does everyone think about the possibility of Zion already having enough power to snub the Pelicans?

I've seen a few different Bball sites talking about this today.

  • It doesn't seem to be based in reality. Just the spinning wheels of the online content machines.

Now he might say something in the next week/month to change that, but for the moment I think it's very unlikely.

With him, a re-committed Davis and Holiday they could be good straight away. Especially if Zion can get out of the blocks quickly

  • Not a lot of support for the AD stays in NOLA theory on The Jump.

  • @shark said in NBA season 2018/19:

Because ESPN are at DEFCON 5 about Zion at a small market. They are balls deep in Zion to NY/LA

  • Crazy theories than Zion threatens to go back to Duke if Pelicans draft him.....he hasn't signed a shoe deal / agent yet so retains NCAA eligibility

  • It's going to be a crazy offseason

  • All indications are that Zion will go to the Pelicans. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/05/zion-williamson-stepfather-duke-pelicans-new-orleans-rumors-options-excited-nba-draft

If you were AD, surely you'd wait until the end of the year before making up your mind on staying/going. If this guy is the next Lebron (a big if), then staying becomes a lot more attractive.

And with a committed AD, Zion and Jrue, the Pelicans now become a free agent destination. Add in a Tobias Harris or a Jimmy Butler and you've got a team that can contend in the West.

  • @barbarian Griffin is a good GM (I wanted him to go to the Lakers and sort that dumpster fire out), he has street cred from dealing with LBJ in CLE, the basketball situation is good so it is only a question of repairing the relationship with the franchise and if AD has his heart set on leaving regardless. If that happens Griffin will get a good deal for AD and the Pels will be set for the next 5 years

  • Who knows what is going on in Davis' head, or what his Klutch friends are telling him. Logic would suggest he should wait it out and see how good Zion is.

But if he's still got his heart set on a big market team then it might be impossible for him to be coaxed back to New Orleans, even for a supermax deal.

An interesting twist will be if Zion also signs with Klutch, and what that means for Davis as well.

  • If there is the prospect of a super trio in LA maybe he wants to go to try and win now. I'm not sure I'd trust LAL management to do that, but the players could do it themselves. Imagine a LBJ-Kyrie-AD core

  • If Kyrie makes the decision to come to LA, then the Lakers can throw everything at the Pelicans for a Davis trade.

Lonzo, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart and a pick or two (even the #4 they have in this draft). AND if they play their cards right the Pelicans will still have cap space on top of that. Might be a hard one to turn down.

  • If they get it done it will be in spite of management. The worst move the Lakers have made in recent times was chasing Jerry West away

  • The second Portland/GSW game is so fun. Warriors up by one with a minute to go.

Steph is trading threes with Seth, while Draymond Green is making some amazing plays at both ends.

  • Holy cow, I checked a few minutes ago and GSW were down 10!!!

  • A good win by the Warriors today. Blazers played a very good game and their role players really stepped on both ends.

But they put the ball in Steph’s hands and he made things happen (with Green).

Iggy comes up with a big time defensive play as well.

  • On the draft, I think there will be some very unpredictable moves in this offseason.

Look at last off season and the Leonard and DeRozan trade was totally out of the blue.

I’m in the AD stays at NOLA camp. Their shrewd front office will make a couple of other moves that will provide a few other carrots for AD.

Lakers have done alright I reckon. They have access to one of three clear standout options on the draft class.

  • Steph Curry is the fucking man

  • I'm sick of the West now. Hopefully the Bucks don't have to play out a 7 game series and add fatigue to the list of problems they'll have in the Finals.

  • @mariner4life he really knows how to flip that switch and take over a game on the offensive end. Draymond Green was phenomenal in today’s game. He always brings the defensive intensity, but the way he pushed the ball and put massive pressure on the Blazers defence was relentless. The starting forwards for the Blazers have been next to useless and it’s been the two (white) twin towers - Leonard and Collins - that have the far more productive. They have looked their best with those two and a combo of the four guards (Hood, CJ, Dame, Seth)

  • @ACT-Crusader In the last quarter DL and CJ couldn't hit a thing, and the GSW were ruthless in going for the jugular. This one is done

  • I really hope KD leaves Golden State, this team is so fun to watch.

I'd love them to win a fourth title and then shoot for a fifth with the 'retro lineup' of Curry, Thompson, Green, Iggy and a cast of scrubs around them.

They are a better "team" when he is not there i think. Also Curry spend the year playing the ball and giving Durant a heap of shots. When KD isn't there, he flicks the switch and scores fuckloads.

I reckon the whole team dynamic is better, they all (especially Draymond) look happier playing share ball. Frankly, Giannis or not, they won't need him to win the title vs the Bucks or the Raps

  • I don’t think they are a better team given they will win more with him than without. But as a fan for me they are far more enjoyable to watch when he’s not in the lineup because you see how Steph, Klay and Green really step up and they are fun to watch when they are locked in.

  • Raptors blowing it right here.

  • 23 rebounds! jesus h christ.
