Well fuck. Decided to chuck in a second run this afternoon after doing one with the other half this morning and of course had a lower calf blowout when I tried to up the pace a bit to get around some footpath dawdlers.
Hopefully not much of a strain and it's just having a moan at the extra work (it's the same side as I tore Achilles), felt like cramp at first.
Ugh. That sucks. I hate that feeling, and the limp home (reminiscent of the uni walk-of-shame).
walk of what?

After the story you told me last week I can see how shame would be an unfamiliar concept.

That's a far cry from the glory days of marking Cory Jane at club Rugby.
About a million times less embarrassing.

Yeah so that jog lasted 400m and the calf is now tight further up, think might be passing down from my hammy.
Not dreading leg day anymore and smoked UB day today (well for me), managed to get through 2 sets, so will be starting to look to add more to that too.
Hopefully run Thursday!

Well made it to 1km and felt the calf tightening after a slight uphill, so turned back to make it 2km - pretty happy with that. Calf doesn't feel damaged, but definitely tight and feels on the mend. Yay!
Odd thing also in that I don't think it's swollen, but has really started to match the size/shape of my other calf over the last couple of weeks, which is neat!

I have a physio mate and a history of busted calves. He always says to stay off the hills when building back up. Go slow (1-3km), go slow, and go flat. Lots of calf raises on running days, then proper days off. No running consecutive days.
Oh and I'm really happy that you're almost symmetrical now.
-
@voodoo that's great advice, thanks. I run on UB day and leg day doesn't have anything that greatly hits the calf (just stability), so assume that's a day off? Will build in some calf raises to UB days.
I'm pretty stoked about symmetry - after doing the achilles on that side it was very noticeably not. I've only noticed since the calf strain that it's actually coming back to "normal".

Yeah, sounds fine, the main advice was that all the calf exercises he gave me (raises, balancing, stretches, anything else) , were all best done on the same day as the jogging.
Stability stuff I'm sure is fine on the off days

7km split over 2 runs yesterday, no calf tightness or complaints at all, stoked. 2nd run was about 3.7 done at 5:16 so that's definitely coming down too.
Also a good UB workout between runs. Can get through 2 sets of the 10-8-6-4-2 fairly well now with more to give.
98kg. Fucken hell.

@MN5 thanks but nah. It's early days and I feel good. Fat, unfit and happy!
Oh and cider is where it's at.
Just chuck your NZ passport in a Dropbox. You won’t be needing it.
Yeah nah cool that makes complete sense...

Sorry about that. Ferning after a few Rums is inadvisable.
It made sense to me at the time I think.

Saturday was rest day and needed. 3km couples run on Sunday with half UB workout as running late for ma's day call, but followed up with a 7km walk.
Knocking on the door of 2 sets of legs, so that's the aim this week. Couples run this morning and Bonesetta is making good improvements too, getting down to 5:40 Kms. I'll go for another late arvo, UB today before lunch and getting through 2 sets easy now so will start timing it.
Sitting below 95kg the last few days.
