      I've read somewhere that someone my size ( around 100kg ) needs to drink 4 litres to try and lean down a bit, this sounds pretty extreme, is this true ? I've been ok with water but not to that extent.....everything else pretty decent ie exercising, food pretty decent, not too much booze......<br />
      <br />
      Bart ( or anyone else ) your thoughts ?

        upping my intake of water was one of the things I did to help with my weight loss, and I found on days where I ate a bit of rubbish, more than planned or a few beers, I made sure I had an extra litre or so of water and it seemed to help; I try to have at least 3l a day, but sometimes will be about 4-5l depending on what I am doing (but as with the dozer who had all that coke, even too much water aint good)<br />
        <br />
        Only downside, is you need to take a piss alot more often (well for most people, I have a Warehouse bladder anyway)

          Yeah taking the family on a walk round the town belt today so will bring some H2O and plenty of it. Don't get me wrong I'm certainly not Chawner sized ( one of THE BEST shows on TV, love that shit ) but whilst the waist is trimmer I still have a tiny bit to go in my own humble opinion. <br />
          <br />
          3 litres ? should be doable in theory, at the moment I'm around about 1 or so, probably not enough.....

            I always try drink 3+ litres of water aday and find that to be pretty easy as I will drink about 1.5 litres during a workout first thing in the morning.<br />
            <br />
            Once at work I will go through about 1 glass of water every hour, sometimes more.<br />
            <br />
            I tell ya what though....toilet stops are much more frequent. Always have to make sure I go for a piss before I go in to a meeting etc as have been busting pretty bad on ocassions.

                a lot of water we take in is actually in our food, especially veges. Also one liter - that could just be water ,not including juice, tea, coffee, beer......

                  Beer and coffee intake then requires more water doesnt it?

                    Yeah 1 lite of water, not counting other liquids but haven't keeled over yet JK. Definitely gonna do better though, 3+ should be doable as long as I'm in the habit of having it every now and again during the day.

                      I have 3l+ of water, and then all my other liquids are additional. I have a 750ml bottle on my desk, the water cooler is about 5m away, so no excuse really!<br />
                      <br />
                      Friday night we had a farewell at work, I had 4 beers and a shot of vodka, but also had 1.5l of water during this time as well.<br />
                      <br />
                      @JK - I do have to reduce my intake when I come down to Auckland otherwise I I cant even make it back to Whangarei without a stop!

                        My reasons to be honest are pure vanity, I just reckon I'd look a bit better with a bit of weight off the middle, nothing major, 5kg or so. Actually more the cm off than the weight, that'd do me fine.

                            Nothing wrong with a bit of vanity.<br />

                            I've had a few issues lately with some of the slim fit shirts I bought last year when I managed to get rid of the gut. They are tight as fuk now and cant even do up any of the top half of the buttons. Cant roll up the sleeves either as too tight getting past the forearms let alone the biceps! Grrrr

                                Yeah but still need new clothes as a result of hard work. Had to put the shirts on trademe as 'worn once'<br />

                                Was funny when I tried to put the shirt on the other night when we were going out to dinner and the wife came in and saw me in progress and just cracked up.

                                  Taniwha, you still got the same belt, I do from my fat days, it now wraps around past my hip and onto my back!<br />
                                  <br />
                                  Water, yeah, drink plenty to keep everything flushed pretty much. I'm meant to be cracking through 3-4 litres a day. Some times I do. Summer, easy, winter, not so much. But I have a litre bottle at my desk here and when I have to, when the lean down starts proper, I make sure I do then right amounts. Otherwise prob 2 or 3 a day. Knock back one with morning workout.<br />
                                  <br />
                                  Not quite as anal as this weird bodybuilding chick at our gym. She has her bottles labelled with times. SO has to have this one drunk by 12, this one by 2 etc. She is seriously fucked in the head though, and basically a horrible person. I don't mind not sharing weights with here at the gym!

                                      lol, yup, I've got about three new notches in the belt, and when leaning down like now could add another!
