Parking suggestions for Mt Smart stadium

@Kirwan it's harder to get close these days. Even worse getting out after. If you are coming from the city there are lots of parking lots as you approach Mt Smart, for a fee. Otherwise there's the trains or uber. Uber won't pick up any closer than Great South Road

Going to the concert tomorrow (assuming it's still on), any recommendations on where to park? I've not been to Mt Smart for years...
Why don't you go for a quiet drink in the city and Uber to the stadium? That's what we are doing on Thursday for his show. (Although we are staying in the city too, to be fair)

and they drop you right outside the stadium, pretty much.

Taking the kids to their first concert, so just want to get home fast, less worried about getting there.

I drove to U2, wished I hadn't. I'd park a fair distance away and walk in. Closer you park to Great South Rd and the motorway the better

Apparantly that option took hours on Sunday, but might be the best of a bad bunch and there are buses too.
Getting back on the train can take a while I hear.
For U2, we parked on rockfield road, dropped a car early in the day before parking restrictions were on. You have to check though - sometimes there are restrictions on that road (or others). It's a 10 minute walk to the stadium, but compared to a long wait for trains, is probably quite a good alternative.
Finally, the other option is to pay for parking somewhere nearby.
Getting away is always the headache, good luck

I still think driving is a good option. At least you can wait seated in your car with music and air conditioning. Just don't park too close to the stadium
