Question.
As someone living outside NZ, where is the official website giving NZ's up-to-date quarantine rules/restrictions on incoming travelers?I don't want to rely on the Fern, or God Help me, Stuff.
There is a government covid19 site. Might be a good start

according to the Covid page, I can get vaccinated from the 28th, which is basically the 1st day anyone can get it, I was gonna sit back and wait until more of the country had been done (ie I am low risk) but I might look to get it done when I can.
What is surprising, is Mrs TR does some work at a retirement village, run by the largest provider in NZ, but she hasnt been asked to have it done, but when i click through the Covid page, she would be in group 2.

You're younger than me but we would fall into the same group I think (I'm low risk as well) but I'm looking end of the year.
Maybe that is the regional thing again?
-
@taniwharugby Yeah I just want it done too.

@tim bryce must have felt sick writing that
I think his support slips through a bit there when he proposes a test to let them off the hook with the 'if they get the next two months right, all will be forgiven' idea.

So, does anybody on TSF have any sort of good oil on when things may actually change?
I'm really struggling with not being able to see my folks. It's eating me up big time and those around me are starting to suffer. I need to get back, it's that simple. I'll be able to work remotely in quarantine so that time should pass reasonably ok, but the time away from my family will be super hard. I'll have to do it during school time. I'm thinking be away for 3 weeks - two weeks quarantine and a week with my olds. Thats a long time.
Even if MIQ drops to a week with multiple tests it makes it more doable. Day to get there, 7 days MIQ, 5 days parents, Day to get back. Thats two weeks.
I've raised it with the wife, and she's of course ok with it, but she doesn't think I'll deal with it well & need to be 100% sure. I think she's right too.
I'm double vaxx'd, and happy to isolate a week before I leave if need be. ...

mate, was talking about this earlier today. I don't think it's going to change soon, definitely not this year, and possibly not next.
if you need to get into NZ, the big issue with your trip is not just the timing, but actually getting an MIQ slot . People are stuck overseas and can't get back to NZ. It's nuts.
good luck, it's a tough plcae to be. Kia kaha

I check MIQ every single day. Have never seen a slot available.

@majorrage see, your major problem is you are not a professional rugby team. Being one of those is the easiest way to jump a border queue in Australasia
because our "caring" governments who only care about the "well-being and safety of their constituents" will absolutely make financial decisions if there are votes in it.

We had a discussion here a few weeks ago, prompted by permanent MIQ facilities, with the gist being that I thought this would be positive for travellers from 'trusted' origins to skip MIQ if vaccinated tec.
But subsequent to this I saw an interview/press conference where Hipkins was prompted and he saw mandatory MIQ lasting definitely to the end of the year and probably for first few months of next year.
This is about 2 to 3 months less optimisitc than what I was.
So, if you are looking at next 6 months I think there is no possibility of delaying to the 5th or 6th month so can avoid MIQ. Unfortunately.
Other thing appearing is that there seems to be a cottage industry that has popped up - of IT programs that constantly pings the MIQ booking system. Looks like you may need to use one of these. A $1k fee for them to book a space for you. Seems you have not much chance manually. Demand far out stripping supply.

@rapido they have changed (or about to change) the booking system so that it remembers you and you have to do a Captcha to stymie the bots.
Jesus wept. Someone in NZ government IT finally learnt about cookies and captcha. Talk about potential CIO!

didn't that article that someone posted about this (may have even been me ) imply that the bots were getting past that? I may misremember that
