Covid-19 and keeping fit

@MajorRage My suunto ambit is too old to pair with Strava, so I'm saved that.

So I'm feeling happy with myself right now.
My few months in Bali consisted of runs in the 5-8km range, all around the 5m/km pace, given the heat and humidity there.
Coming back into lockdown, I set myself a goal of running 10kms in under 45mins, 4:30/km ave.
Did a longer 15km run last week, then an 8km on my own, and a bunch of shorter stuff with the kids.
First 10km hitout 2 days ago, managed 4:45/km for a time of 47:32.
Rest day yesterday, then another crack today.
Came home in 44:48, ave 4:29/km . Absolutely stoked.
Was travelling really well for the first 5kms and had some time in the bank, then realised I'd gone down a decent hill just before the turnaround. Absolutely grovelled my way back up, and thought I was toast for the day, lungs and legs. But hung in, and got a 2nd wind, and scraped home!
So now, with my lockdown goal achieved, the question is do I put my feet up for the next 25 days and get fat again, or set a new target???
I think I'll wait until tomorrow to decide...
You can fuck right off.
Training my arse off for 6 straight fucking months and the fastest 10k I've done is around 49 minutes. Zero chance of improving on that.
Fuck you.
Haha 😁
You may have been training hard, but you're missing 1 key ingredient if you want to really improve - unemployment!
I haven't worked since late Nov last year, so have had plenty of time to train. That was mostly surfing (well, paddling around, getting smashed, drinking ocean water) and now running. When you're not working you can train/surf when you want, rather than being forced to squeeze something in around work/kids at 6am or after work.
I reckon I was 105 at my late-Nov peak, am now 10-12kgs lighter than that (can't be exact as have different scales here). Makes a heck of a difference!
Re Strava, I love it. I turn off the notifications, but I do enjoy seeing what friends are up to. Lots of friends do stuff with their kids now they are getting older, and it's cool to see them progres too.

Yea I don't have any notifications on mine, I jump on for a quick look after my activity goes on there to see what others have been upto...I know a guy who had been doing ironman training so was interesting seeing his huge numbers...he had qualified for some big one later this year but arrived back in NZ the day before self iso came in, but did so anyway.
-
Yeah dont have notifications on either. What are they for? When you are approaching a segment or something?
I have a couple of crazy mates I follow, one who rides about 60km each way to work and back each day (bet hes feeling like a lazy bastard right now) and another who is a greater runner and comfortable bangs out sub 4min kms and then in low to mid 3min/kms come race time. Crazy

Windy as fark here today but want to go out for a 5pm effort - not sure ride or run or maybe just a hazy IPA....
Sounds dangerous out there, better you stay safe and indoors. Crack that IPA sir.
Thats what I'm thinking. Odd bit of rain coming too by the looks. Just re-tipped a couple of pool cues so could be a night on the table ahead!

no run today, went for a walk up Mt Whitfield, which has great tracks all over it. Basically like climbing the Mount on the steep side. All steps! Nice change

Gave in and went for a run around the golf course
Nice one! Have to say, I've never understood people who run/walk dogs around golf courses (when they are being actively played I mean). Just asking for a ball to the back of the scone!

Yeah at the moment is pretty quiet. Just a few dog walkers really.
As a golfer myself, running around the course is actually pretty interesting going tee to green and by staying on the fairway I often see parts of the course I don’t usually see when playing
